Welcome to the Emerald City
Appropriately nicknamed the Emerald City for its Pacific Northwest forests, Seattle sits on the scenic Puget Sound and is crowned by the Space Needle. Take a ride to the top for a panoramic view of a city known for its innovative music, coffee culture, and famous flying-fish market. Cheap hotels in Seattle that are near this market, called Pike Place, allow you to be in walking distance of its fresh fruits and vegetables, flower bouquets, and, of course, seafood of every type and stripe.
Exploring from Seattle Hotels
From your Seattle hotel, set out for the Fremont neighborhood if you want to see the quirky troll statue that lives under the bridge along with vintage shops and tasty restaurants. Or stay at hotels in Seattle near historic Pioneer Square to be able to walk to the ballpark to catch a Mariners game. Other fun attractions to take in are the Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Hall of Fame, both of which will keep you entertained for hours with everything from Jimi Hendrix to the Jetsons.
If you’re feeling outdoorsy, take a ferry to an outlying island, go whale-watching, or relax in a park. Whatever you do, however, bring a raincoat or umbrella, as Seattle is famous for its frequent light rains. If it gets to be too much, just duck into a café for a hot steaming mug of that famous Seattle joe.
