Finding the Right Hotel
Known as one of the most livable cities around, a stay at a Pittsburgh hotel offers a memorable visit. Located in an area known as the Golden Triangle, where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers converge to form the Ohio River, Pittsburgh's most distinguishable features include Point State Park and downtown's central business district. Both luxurious and cheap Pittsburgh hotels here put you near the Cultural District's unique restaurants, theaters, music venues, and the Strip's ethnic diversity.
Plenty to do in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh's East End includes Shadyside's upscale stores and retail chains, along with Victorian homes, trendy bars, and boutique Pittsburgh hotels, from which you can walk to museums, the Pittsburgh Zoo, and PPG Aquarium. Staying in Oakland puts you near Pitt's Cathedral of Learning and the Carnegie cultural complex that includes art and history museums, Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, and the Appalachia version of Carnegie Music Hall.
You can ride an incline to the top of Mount Washington for the most picturesque view of Steel City, or head to the top of your hotel in Pittsburgh. You can also stay near the river banks, such as SouthSide Works where steel was once forged but is now home to the training facilities of the NFL's Steelers and numerous retail shops and dining spots.
Speaking of sports, if you're a fan, look for hotels in Pittsburgh on the North Side to be close to each venue where the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins play. Or if you're looking for art and beauty, visit the nearby Andy Warhol Museum and the Allegheny Observatory.
