Embrace Brazil's Hotels
Rio de Janeiro’s reputation for exotic samba dancers, parties in the streets, and action-packed beaches is well-deserved. The famed Carnival in Rio is just one of the many reasons vacationers flock to this Brazilian metropolis, where Rio de Janeiro hotels line the beaches and offer views of the city’s lush green foothills and island-dotted bays.
Rio de Janeiro Neighborhoods
Many hotels in Rio de Janeiro are located in neighborhoods that face the beach. The most famous of these is Copacabana, where the powdery white sand is thronged with people sunning, playing soccer, socializing, and even dancing. The subway runs through Copacabana, which is a plus for those looking to explore other areas of the city.
Just west of Copacabana are the beachfront neighborhoods of Ipanema and Leblon. A Rio de Janeiro hotel here is likely to be a bit quieter and more upscale than one in Copacabana. Ipanema features shopping and boutiques, while Leblon is home to a number of excellent restaurants. Just behind Ipanema, off the beach, the Lagao Rodrigo de Freitas neighborhood offers a large city park with miles of walking paths as well as Rua Garcia D’Avila, Rio’s version of Rodeo Drive. Those in search of Rio de Janeiro cheap hotels might want to consider the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa. Located above the bay, Santa Teresa is a picturesque area of restored Victorian mansions, cobblestone streets, art galleries, and cafes.
