Things to do with kids in Ocean City

What's better than a cool babysitter who always comes armed with toys? Try an entire city filled with kids' activities - and fellow kids ready to make a new best friend.

Ocean City is the ideal place to take the kids on vacation. You'd have to try really (and we mean really) hard to run out of things to do here.

Of course, the beach is calling your kids' names. When a place is called something like Ocean City, it's only fitting that some of the best things to do with kids involve splashing around in the water and taking advantage of special events like the Family Beach Olympics.

The beach isn't the only draw, though. Listen to a concert in the park, let loose on a topsy-turvy playground or enjoy a round of mini golf at one of the activity centers in the area.

Here are just a few popular attractions to keep the younger generation smiling.

Jolly Rogers Amusement Park

  • Two locations, one at the Ocean City Pier and one on 30th Street, give you plenty of ride options, including go-karts and roller coasters.
  • Splash around in the full-service waterpark with lazy rivers, water racers and a play area with sprayers for the toddlers.
  • Classic rides like bumper cars and a Ferris wheel will bring you back to your childhood, and educate the kids about "the past."

Ripley's Believe It or Not!

  • Truth is stranger than fiction at this attraction on the pier boasting a giant collection of weird stuff.
  • See one of the world's rarest eggs or marvel at a shrunken head as you browse over 500 exhibits and 12 galleries.
  • Measure up against the world's tallest man, or put the kids in the spinning tunnel and see if they can find a way out.

Northside Park

  • As Ocean City's largest park, Northside Park is a great place to let the kids run free and burn off that extra energy before bed.
  • Bring a packed lunch to the picnic area or put some sandwiches in your children's hands as they run past you at one of the two playgrounds.
  • Volleyball courts, baseball fields, a fishing lagoon and a soccer field all provide space for organized play and community events.
