"Solid hotel - Quaint, reasonable"
Nice hotel to stay at a reasonable price in wine country. A little outdated decor, but huge rooms and wonderfully comfortable beds. But 1991 called and it wants its TV back! LOL. Only other big complaint was the truly crappy continental breakfast - you think a historic hotel in the "same category" as the Sonoma Mission Inn could try a little harder than a Holiday Inn in the breakfast department.

"Great location, little loud"
If you want to stay near the Sonoma Plaza it would be difficult to find a better location. We had the room next to the walkway going to the courtyard, so when the gate slammed shut behind people it was a little annoying along with some noise from the upper floors. but nothing that would keep you up all hours of the night. Would stay again, but would prefer a room away from the courtyard walkway.

"Older downtown hotel in process of refurbishment"
Hotel Petaluma I suspect has a colorful history, the kind of old hotel I could picture Samuel Clements holding sway in the lobby. Hotel Petaluma is not that old however. The new owners are restoring it and right now the guest rooms are clean, neat, comfortable, and utilitarian. There is no in room AC but the windows open and provide plenty of fresh air. The downside if you are on the street side, street parties falling out of an adjacent bar can be noisy and rowdy in the wee hours. A security issue is that there was no safety chain on our door. A big issue is lack of parking. The hotel has street parking only. If you can get past the expensive niceties of having mints under your pillow and a continental breakfast, and open your experience to a less frenetic life of yesteryear, you'll like Hotel Petaluma. I'm looking forward to going back next year and seeing the restored courtyard and other areas of this venerable hotel.

"Beautiful room"
The room was beautiful with a little patio outside. The hotel had a nice pool and grounds. The food at the restaurant was great but a little on the expensive side. There was a free shuttle to the downtown Sonoma area. The best part was there was a running trail and the front desk had little map cards with running routes on them. The only disadvantage was that breakfast was not included.

"Nice hotel close to shopping"
We recently stayed for four nights at this hotel in Santa Rosa. For us it was a very convenient location close to the doctor I needed to see, easy to get to and within walking distance of many cute shops & restaurants in a historic part of town. The hotel was clean & quiet, very nice pool area, very helpful staff & the manager was personable, wanting to make sure our stay was good. We would definitely stay here again.
