The Oxford Hotel

1600 17th St, Denver - Map
"Heaven on Earth"
A graduate of CU, I have been familiar with The Oxford Hotel and its historic Cruise Room for twenty years. Having moved to South Florida some time ago, but with friends in Boulder and Ft. Collins, and occasional business to attend to in Denver, my wife and I have the great pleasure of returning to The Oxford with some frequency. In fact, we plan an August trip around a Rockies homestand and concert at Red Rocks annually. For us, there is no other place to stay. Its LoDo location offers a short walk to world-class dining from micro breweries to Brazilian steakhouses, as well as Coors Field and the 16th Street Mall. Inside The Oxford the crown moldings, authentic furniture and historic appeal are unsurpassed. So is the staff. And so is the food and drink. The Cruise Room, the first bar in Colorado opened after the repeal of prohibition is an exact replica of the bar built on the Queen Mary in 1930-something. The martinis are to die for. McCormick's Restaurant, also on the property, offers some of the finest cuisine in Denver. The service is exceptional in both. But, The Oxford is not for everyone. If you are looking for the most modern, streamline and business friendly hotel on earth, this may not be it. But it it truly exceptional at what it does and will remain our favorite (and only) accommodation within Denver for years to come.

"Incredible Victorian Accommodations."
My wife and I stayed here last week, as an engaged couple, on the first two nights of our elopement/honeymoon.  The building was beautiful and clean inside and out.  The suite was comfortable, with a full kitchen, nice bathroom, plenty of seating options, and it's own breakfast nook overlooking the garden.  Breakfast was made to order with flexible hours(7:30 to 10 If I remember right) and was delicious.   The hotel was just off of the downtown area, and within walking distance of the Denver Botanic Gardens, and plenty of great dining options.  Lots of homeless in the area, but that can be expected with a larger city's downtown.

Hilton Garden Inn Denver/Cherry Creek

600 S Colorado Blvd, Denver - Map
"Modern, clean and comfortable hotel near Cherry Creek"
This is a very nice, relatively new hotel. The rooms are roomy, clean and comfortable. There is a microwave and refrigerator in the room. Climate control was good, and the room was quiet. The lighting was a little dim for things like putting on makeup. I recommend a room on the western side to get a nice view of the Rockies, but I chose the eastern side to avoid the noise of Colorado Blvd. However, the rooms were pretty well sound-proofed and I think the road noise may not have been a problem. The hotel has a very nice fitness center with several cardio machines and a good set of weights. There is a nice looking pool and hot tub. There is also a laundry. We had breakfast in the hotel one day, and the food was fine, but it was kind of expensive. Other days we went to the Panera Bread company that is next door. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

"Good hotel, great location"
I enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn Denver-Speer Blvd. The location is great for doing business in Denver and it is conveniently located for shopping and traveling. The bedding is comfortable and the breakfast was great. I'd stay there again.

Hilton Garden Inn Denver Downtown

"The hotel was a nice, average hotel for the Downtown Denver area."
The room was clean, hotel was quiet ... right around the corner from the Denver Convention Center and 16th Street Mall. Within [short] walking distance to Larimer Square, a one-block long, fantastic area with fine shopping and dining, night clubs and bars. The hotel does have a guest laundry ... we didn't need to use it, but it was great knowing it was there. The hotel gym is the smallest I have ever seen ... it is incredibly uncomfortable working out when more than one other person is in the space with you.

"Close to Dining & Shopping!"
We chose for location close to Larimer Square. A beautiful building with the amenities we like. The room was cozy and had a mini-fridge. Concierge did a great job of meeting special requests and making reservations. If you're on the front side then I'd suggest bringing some earplugs because it can get rowdy on a Weekend. Tub is average, granite countertops in bathroom, Keurig coffee maker are some nice amenities. We will definitely stay again! :-)

"Awesome retro decor"
Recently stayed at The Curtis Sept. 3-9, 2014 first trip to Denver and was celebrating my birthday. The Curtis exceeded my expectations!!!!! What a fun and very cool hotel experience. I loved all the retro décor throughout the hotel and the themed floors were great, Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had a great king size suite on the 11th floor ( chick flix ). Excellent views of downtown and room was spotless with a fun interior design. I did my own tour of the hotel but I wished I could of snuck a peak of all the different themed rooms on each floor. Cookies were at great touch when checking in, and yummy!!!!
