Receptionist was great and helpful, but..... Place is very tired and need of some serious refit. I haven't seen separate hot and cold basin taps in hotels for years. Shower performance very poor. restaurant menu extremely limited- decided to go out. I guess it was very nice 20-30 years ago!

Room was a bit tired but clean. Big issue was no hot water and it appears from the number of people complaining at Reception, that this is a hotel wide issue. Reception staff told us that as its an old building the hot water comes on after running all hot taps in the bathroom for 15 mins. We tried this and the 'hot' water was still running freezing cold. This 'advice' was given to every guest we heard asking about the hot water, so the water wastage at this hotel must be an incredibly large amount. We also wondered if the catering staff had access to hot water to wash gheir hands. With this in mind we decided not to eat there and checked out before 8am to get home to eat and have a hot shower. It's a lovely building in a great location, so i really hope they get the water issue sorted.

The property was adequate for our purposes. I think they could have a simpler method for paying for car parking as you had to download an app and several customers had problems with this method and a member of staff had to sort it out on their own account for us. Breakfast was good.
