Flights to Lantau, Hong Kong (HKG)
Flights to Lantau, Hong Kong are routed to Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) on the island of Chek Lap Kok. Hong Kong International is served by more than 100 airlines flying to 180 locations worldwide, carrying 59.9 million passengers annually and averaging 64 flights per hour.
There are two terminals in this clean, contemporary, sprawling 570,000 m2 airport. Terminal 1 has 200 retail shops and 60 dining options. Terminal 2 has 80 retail shops and 20 dining options, plus an Aviation Discovery Centre, a UA IMAX Theatre, and the Dream Come True Education Park. Banks, ATMs, airline clubs, and hotels are all located in or adjacent to the terminals via walkways. The Wing Lounge offers a large bar, private baths and showers, as well as private cubicles, 24 hours a day.
Transportation from the HKG airport to Hong Kong city is provided by an extensive public transportation system. The Airport Express provides a direct link to the central business district of Hong Kong. The quick, comfortable 24-minute ride runs at 12-minute intervals, so there is never a long wait for the next train. Buses connect well with the rest of the city, so getting to area hotels are not a problem. Fares, while affordable in terms of the city of Hong Kong, may seem comparatively high to some U.S. travelers but are bargains compared to costs associated with private transportation here.
Taxis, limos, and private cars are also available. Be prepared for sticker shock, further underscoring the value of high-speed trains and public transit.
