If I ever return to Venice, I'll try to stay here again. Check in and check out at Al Portico (the parent hotel of the apartments) was easy. I opted to check in at Al Portico. Francesca was able and willing to answer all my questions and was keen to share her personal favourites in the city. I followed her advice on places she recommended for food and they were excellent.
The apartment was in a fantastic location. 5 minutes walk from Rialto, 15 minutes from the station. 2 minutes from the Grand Canal water bus and 5 minutes from the Fundamenta Nuova water bus (for Morano/Burano). You felt like you were in the Venetians' Venice, despite being on the main thoroughfare between the station and Rialto/St. Marco.
There are restaurants and bars on Strada Nova but the windows are completely sound proof so you can have a very peaceful sleep in a very comfortable bed! Good amenities (dishwasher, fridge, washing machine) and good shower.
Great ice cream across the road. A short walk to the amazing food on Misericordia. I wouldn't bother with the restaurants close by. These are very much tourist restaurants!
There is a Co-Op supermarket 5 minutes away. Being able to sit and have breakfast in the apartment, before heading out for the day, made it feel like home away from home.
Staying here is a great choice!
