The food at the hotel was lovely. We had an evening meal and breakfast. The restaurant staff were very friendly and very attentive. The bar was adequately stocked, but I think they missed a trick. The hotel is pretty close to Penderyn distillery , yet stock nothing of their range. I for one would definitely have spent more at the bar if more Welsh or local beverages had been on offer. A black dragon cider would have been preferable to a bland Singha beer, or a penderyn single malt over whatever generic brand X whisky. The only other issue was the shower in the room was very underpowered. Not sure if it's a water pressure issue, but there was no way to use it effectively without having the shower head in you hand & even then it was not great. Overall, due to the lovely friendly team looking after us,.we would stay again.

The main areas of the hotel are good, clean, modern. The staff in the bar and restaurant were excellent, friendly. I only ate dinner a couple of times, no breakfast or lunch, but the dinner menu was fine, good variety, good quality. Hotel prices obviously, although there are other places not far away as alternatives. I don't know about other rooms but in my room the carpet was clearly way past the time it should have been steam cleaned - lots of staining. While some staining is inevitable due to repeated use, this was far beyond what should be acceptable. The bathroom was ok for the most part but it suffered as many hotels do - water getting under the glass shower (over the bath) door. Consequently there was an area where water gathered and needed to be mopped up after each shower, so the floor looked grubby, although it didn't feel like that. The hotel appears to have a lot of coach parties and business travelers, some of whom stay for weeks, so maybe they are allocated the better rooms.

Very convenient.

The hotel was very convenient for us when we needed to be nearby for an appointment early in the morning. It seems a bit dated but the bed was comfortable. The signs directing to rooms were a bit confusing. There wasn't much tea and coffee provided but I'm sure we could have had more if we had time to ask. There wasn't much room to hang clothes but I guess it's not designed for a long stay. Staff very helpful, particularly on reception. Food was tasty and well presented.

Definitely not 4 star

Average, definitely not a 4 star hotel. 3 at best. The downstairs area around reception and restaurant was nice but the room needs some serious work done. Obviously hasn't been updated/renovated/maintained in quite some time. Carpet was filthy, chairs very dirty and the bathroom really needs to be re done. Bed was clean and comfy, shower warm, everything else needs work. Bit disappointing really.
