Would not consider the Portsmouth Marriott to be a four star hotel. At check-in, we were informed of a £50 deposit that needed to be paid, which I had not seen listed anywhere when I booked. Not sure if having two children made the receptionist decide to add it on, but felt unnecessary. The beds were so uncomfortable. My 11 and 5 year old had no complaints but my husband and I both had an awful nights sleep. Parking is £5, wifi is extra… A lot of money making schemes that I don’t expect from a so-called four star hotel. Did not eat at the hotel, so unable to comment on food.

Short family break

Overall we were pleased with the stay. Didnt give a 5 star but that was due to our preference for example the comfort of the bed, pillows or not enough places to hang towels in the bathroom. But the room was very tidy and we enjoyed the shower and breakfast.

Overall, it was a nice hotel and room although a little expensive. However there was no lock on bathroom door and there was no hook for hand towel. There was also no hair conditioner in the bottle. Mattress seemed a little old (lumpy) but pillows were very nice and comfy. Hotel was in a good location with restaurants and shopping nearby.

Convenient, quiet location for a pre-cruise overnight stay. Transportation was readily avaliable and the front desk staff were very helpful to arrange. Had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Breakfast was included in my room selection and it was delicious and plentiful. You cannot go wrong by including it. We enjoyed our stay in Portsmouth!

Disappointing

My experience at the Portsmouth Marriott was quite disappointing. Firstly, the room window looked directly onto the dining area below, offering absolutely no privacy and making the stay feel quite uncomfortable. The breakfast was another major let-down – some items were missing and were never replenished, and the fruit section had fruit flies stuck to the fruit, which was very unhygienic. For a price of over £200 per night, the quality and service were far below expectations. I would not recommend this hotel.
