Ongoing disappointment
After reviewing VRBO “stars” and a long verbal description of the property by the host (phone), we paid in full through VRBO for two weeKs.
When offered a checkin a few hours early on day one, we noted that the property was dirty, hair and dust on the floor, a coffee maker full of mold-covered grounds, dirty dishes in the cabinets, missing kitchen essentials such as cookware, glasses, utensils, missing fire extinguisher, expired first aid kit, old and stained furniture (some displaying hotel badges-clearly auction-level items), an inoperative ice maker, only cold water in second shower, no iron or ironing board, etc..
When contacted regarding these deficiencies, the owner did quickly respond and began delivering items that the unit was advertised with, i.e, “fully stocked, newly furnished.” Unfortunately, this process took Lorie over two days to complete and half of one day was spent providing access for a handyman to affect plumbing repairs in one bathroom and hardware attachment in another. During this period, we finished the cleaning process of the whole unit as even with a second visit by cleaners, it wasn’t clean.
Of greater concern, is that during the delivery of replacement bar stools (the originals were covered with pet hair) Lorie’s partner, Martin, refused to discuss some credit back to us for vacation time lost (promised by Lorie). We cannot recommend this host!
