Good enough for the price!

This hotel is not for the faint of heart but if you can handle any Motel 6, you can handle this. The lobby experience can be a bit intense (front desk staff were awesome though), then you have to navigate the utterly depressing hallways to your room. However, once in your room, it's wasn't too bad considering what I paid. I didn't have air conditioning and unfortunately you cannot open the windows in the front of the hotel but I expected this. My room was a little beat up but clean enough. Running the fan on high drowned out the general noise of the hotel and the trains. My only real complaint was that my fan was FILTHY, those things could maybe use a bit of a dust. This was my second stay here.

When I was looking for a hotel/motel before even arriving to California this place was advertised as a good place to stay. The pictures look good upon arriving. It was awful. The place just looked old and ran down. There were not so good people staying at the place and smell like marijuana as soon as you walk into the doors in lobby area , I did informed the male at the desk of my concern with the smell But then realized Oakland is place that it’s legal to smoke marijuana so of course it would smell like that, The prostitution that went on, there was awful all throughout the night this people come in there no clothes on or half ass dress, It’s a good thing I didn’t have kids with me The place just look dirty even though it was clean Paint peeling off room doors and loud nose all day in hotel and the train next to hotel didn’t help matters, The fightingthat went on while your trying to sleep had to call desk and informed them someone was fighting in the room next to mine Get up and got out of room blood on the door handle next to mine , No small towels are available or no towels you had to wait for a bath towel no hotel soap at all for the while stay , This place do not go to Not worth the money It should a been a 20 a night hotel I do not recommend this place and I’m never renting this place again They need to tell the truth about it in the advertisement through Expedia I had rent my daughter a room also but she was smart enough to read reviews and cancel

Party Central.

The only reason why I gave this hotel a chance. Is because of its location, but once my fiancé and I got there, it reeked of cigarette smoke, smell and we were missing some items in our room, for example, pillows and hand soap. Also on the 2nd day of our stay there was a big party in one of the rooms next door. We heard some noises that were concerning almost reached out to local authorities about it. This hotel is not for the faint of heart.

Customer service improvements

The stay was great but I saw roaches and a flea was on me while staying in room 303. I did mention this to the desk personnel. Before leaving and I am being harassed by cleaning staff when I am in the common ares of this hotel.

Great beds and pillows, terrific staff & owner.

Short overnight stay. Convenient to train depot. Hotel in process of refurbishing, so there were a few issues, e.g. tv wasn't working, no tissues or cups in the bath, a few gaps in the flooring due to be replaced. But, the staff graciously changed our room and made sure all was well in the new room. It was clean, very comfortable beds and pillows and helpful, friendly staff.

Decent spot

Staff was nice, convenient location to nearby shops and restaurants. Breakfast buffet didn't offer much variety, but the coffee was fresh. Was only in town for a follow-up job interview and had pleasant experience with Jack London Inn in the past. So I booked them again and again they delivered. Will stay here again should I have to stay in Oakland.
