Dec 18-27, 2025 Stay at the beautiful ‘Karl August’ Hotel in olde town Nuremberg, Germany was a true holiday delight! Our Family Suite (#345) was very spacious, the hotel housekeeping service was very accommodating for our schedule & needs, and overall the hotel Staff members were available 24/7 for all our questions & requests! We ate at the Christkindlesmrkt (steps away from the hotel & reason for this location), we also ventured out to some local restaurants for that authentic European delight & experience. “Five Star” rating hands down!

Excellent location - literally a half block from the Hauptmarkt (location for the Christmas market). Check in was very efficient: staff was friendly and courteous- so helpful. It was only a 10 minute walk from the train station and we were able to walk a few yards to the end of the pedestrian only zone to get a taxi. The room was very clean and well appointed. The breakfast was good but not a typical German buffet of brotchen, meats, cheeses, pastries. You can order eggs to order and the service is decent.

Very clean, sizeable rooms. The cafe is very nice. The staff are attentive, polite and professional. The hotel is just steps from one of the world's biggest Christkindlmarket. It's located near nice shops, cafes and restaurants.

Conveniently located close to the main square, this hotel offer comfort and convenience. We enjoyed their spa area with a gym, sauna and pool as well as the restaurants nearby. It is the best place to stay in town.

The visit started with a lovely email directing us to make some important restaurant reservations with recommendations for where to dine. Upon arrival (very early), the front desk staff kindly sowed our luggage, and before we returned they moved them to our room for u. The front desk staff is excellent and the room was cozy and comfortable with unique features

Location is excellent for the Christmas market. Staff was pleasant. This was our most expensive lodging night during our 10 day trip through Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Room was cold, gray, no artwork, no amenities and NO charm. We could hear the water gurgling through the walls every time the guests in the room above us flushed their toilet. At $500 USD a night, it would have been nice to have a coffee maker.
Concrete walls made it feel more like a prison or monastery, not a "boutique" hotel.

I did not realize breakfast was included, but very pleased! So much was included: Bread basket, coffee, oj, spreads, meat and cheese, yogurt and fruit cup. Then eggs to order and bacon. Go hungry! We also received two vouchers for the cafe for a coffee or water. Very quiet rooms. Bathroom floor was heated! Plenty of space in both room and bathroom. Soap, shampoo and body wash included from dispensers.

Pros: Excellent location. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Cons: Lack of amenities - need to request for toiletries, no body lotion in room but available for purchase. Minimalist room - only one small table in the superior twin room, no refrigerator. First requested kettle was broken, no room to put the tray with kettle and mugs but on a chair. Nowhere to plug in the electric kettle but at the bathroom sink.
