Seaside vacations at nags head
First check in was at 5. We had driven 8 hours & got a text that check in had been delayed. We waited until after 6:30 to check in. Around 1 am my son came to my room to say rats were in his family’s room, he has a 10 month old. We later realized the place was rat infested. It was also very nasty. There were ants crawling all over the counters. Trying to make the best of it we tried to make breakfast but our oven didn’t work. After emailing & calling several times to seaside vacation rentals, they sent out some cleaners to spot clean where we needed. They had a 10-12 year old child to translate our conversation. They were going to mop a section. Spot cleaning would not help since there were rat droppings everywhere & active ones happening when we left the room. The maintenance man came & said the oven wasn’t fixable. He did put out some ant bait stations. He also said the rat/mice issue needed pest control. Pest control came, he wanted to spray but we had small children. He suggested traps but had to wait an hour for approval from the property owner. After dealing with everything & wasting a day & 1/2 dealing with the issues at 7 pm the rental company offered another place, it wasn’t what we needed for our stay. I asked for a refund instead. We left & got a hotel room for the night. We rented another place the next day. We ended up moving 2 times in our 7 day vacation due to unsanitary conditions inside that house. Unacceptable!!!!
