Quick get a way!

We arrived Friday evening at 5:30 and left Monday morning at 10. Very nice, comfortable, quiet, friendly and convenient place to stay. Close to the beach, nice pool and safe environment. Really enjoyed it!

We normally set them up on Siesta Key when they are down but due to late reservations we stayed at the Sand Cay Resort this time. Nice resort on the beach with lots of land for the kids to play, a nice pool area as well as a tennis court, basketball hoop and other amenities. We will certainly come back for a change of pace and a more private setting.

We like to cook but the stove didn't work properly, not a big problem. New washer and dryer in unit. We really enjoy the family atmosphere at Sand Cay. The ladies in the office are very friendly and helpful. The grounds are gorgeous.

The resort overall is awesome, but unit 107 needs new furniture and updating. The fire alarm went off one night and the fire company was there quickly, this was reassuring. False alarm. Owners need to pay more attention to unit needs considering the price of rentals.

We had mold in the master shower handle but he cleaned it out. The master sink needs a whole new faucet system. You had to hold open the drain plug so the water would go out. We love Sand Cay Resort but this unit needs updated in the bathrooms and a/c.

Very outdated and overpriced.

The condo was very overpriced for its condition and misrepresented. It doesn’t look like the photos, the photos must be very old. The condo is outdated, dark, screen door kept coming off the rail, light bulbs were out. It's 80's decor. Bedroom and living room are so dark/old. I could have stayed at the ritz Carlton Sarasota for what we paid per night for this condo.

Reviewer Comments: The unit is simply outdated and needs to be upgraded (its stuck in the early 90's); The bathrooms/showers are shabby looking with mismatching colors.The shower heads are something out of an army barracks.The place smelled musty,The furniture is outdated,The patio area was dirty,The 2nd bedroom beds are creepy and small.The patio screen doors kept coming off the track/getting stuck.The pool needed vacuumed as well.For what you pay per night, you could stay at the Ritz Carlton...

Reviewer Comments: Definitely one of the outdated rooms, would not choose this one again. It was clean and offered good living room seating but everything was very outdated and old/well used. All the mattresses are firm, coil/spring, not very comfy. Kitchen had a hodge podge of mismatched leftover cups, silverware, pots and pans. TV is fuzzy cable only, no netflix, hulu, etc. Didn't seem like a "home" like unit. Love the resort, heated pool, beach access and will stay here again but will pick a different unit next time.

We had a wonderful 12 days on Longboat Key and would return to Sand Cay but definitely not this condo. Condo needs updating / upgrades. Rugs are worn, frayed and slip on tile surfaces - creating fall risk. Bedspread and dust ruffle torn, make up area has missing laminate strip, dining chair cushions are stained. Kitchen is not well maintained - utensils rusty and not a sharp knife. Dark brown decor and furniture is old and weathered - more of a cabin than beach feel.

I had to buy air fresheners and open all the doors to get rid of the smell.The welcome mats at the door are a slip hazard - they had no grip and twice my son fell - in the end I removed them until we left.My family stayed in another unit which was beautifully done. The pictures for this one were misleading and made it look much nicer than it was.If it were updated I would go back.

Just Okay, Nothing Great

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our unit is in need of updating. One toilet should be replaced. Unit was very clean. Not the type of place for couples or for those traveling without kids. No one in Mgmt Office was ever around to see how disruptive all the children were in the pool area. Adults swinging kids by arms and legs and tossing them in pool, adults drinking in the pool area, kids screaming, everyone acting like they were in their own backyards, no parental supervision. Kids used shuffleboard equipment then just left it all on the grass. My children are grown, and I never allowed them to behave the way most of these kids did. Checked out at 10 AM which meant toss your keys in the basket on the desk in the office. There is a puddle outside of our unit that looks to have some mildew - should be taken care of.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our Unit at Sand Cay was ok - great location right near the pool - but the king bed in the master really, really needs to be replaced. It’s so soft and old. When you are paying $300_$400 a night - you really expect a decent bed. The unit was clean and the appliances were clean and nice- furniture was fine- it was just the bed ( which is a big part of a stay). Note - you CAN hear every footstep in the unit above you- but that can't be helped by the owners- just pray for no young children staying above you running at 7 am -like we had . Also lastly the toilet in the hallway really needs to be replaced- it does not flush - ever- even without being used. Thank you.

Great Complex---Worst unit

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Sand Cay is a fantastic place unfortunately we booked our trip very last minute only unit 107 was available. The unit was very clean, but extremely outdated. Bathrooms were working fine but horrible decor. The entire unit has not been touched in 20 years.
