I feel bad leaving a negative review because I can see the "vision" that they were going for but the accommodations/barn was so filthy that it made the stay very uncomfortable. Simply putting the horse outside and buying a few items from Hobby Lobby does not turn a space into a vacation rental.
The A/C unit is way too small to accommodate the space so it was stifling hot. We couldn't open windows because there were no screens and bugs swarmed in.
I understand that it is a "working barn" but a little vacuuming and clorox would go a long way. The smell of dust, horses, and manure was overpowering. There were mouse droppings, cobwebs, hay, dust, and dead flies everywhere. If you dropped something on the floor, it was filthy dirty when you picked it up.
There was not enough hot water for someone to rinse off. There were frogs, manure, and hay in the shower.
We woke each day to find various new animal droppings that I assume were from frogs (?) and mice. We had to remove one frog from the main living area.
The host left muffins which was very kind. It was also very accommodating to our dogs which made it easy for us to bring them. Maggie was very responsive and easy to work with. She answered our questions quickly and was super kind. The horse and donkey around the barn were so sweet and a joy to see.
All in all, I get the vision of creating a vacation rental from a barn... but you have to clean it up before you open it to guests.
