Location, location location: this hotel is right on the spot where the ancient hippodrome used to be and 5 minutes walk from the Hagia Sophia and all the action. Plenty of eating options very close by. The hotel is busy - even in the low season.
There are a few issues: first - and most importantly - the 'standard' rooms are not all equal. The first room we were put in was small and basic and a twin despite us having requested a double bed. We complained and they 'upgraded' us to a 'standard' room which was bigger with a double bed on a higher floor. So, if you book a 'standard' room you could end up with a small twin.
The second issue is related to this: they don't seem to take the VIP status seriously. I really had to push for a better room. To their credit, they did deliver it. But I felt like they were doing us a big favour.
The third issue is the distinct lack of welcome when you arrive. A small point, but reception really doesn't seem to care. (When we arrived they.offeted a welcome drink which never arrived). No one offers to assist with you bags. Basically, you're on your own.
All of that said, the location is fantastic.and the rooms are warm and clean. The room staff are exceptional and make up somewhat for the reception staff.
Breakfast is standard Turkish and crowded. But overall, a pleasant stay in a clean, functional hotel.
