We had a superior room which was spacious with a huge bathroom (separate bath and shower). Because of its position, overlooking an enclosed garden, and at the end of a corridor, it was very quiet. There is no lift so cases had to be carried upstairs. Several areas of hallway carpet are stained and worn. The bed was very large and comfortable but the room lacked some amenities, e.g. a fridge, adequate lighting over mirrors in the bedroom, coffee and tea but no biscuits.
Dinner was served in a strange, small and noisy (because of other guests in a group of six who became louder as the evening wore on) restaurant. Our table was perfect for 2 except that the chairs were easy chairs, not dining chairs, so the table was too high to eat at comfortably. Moving would have put us next to the noisy table! Service was not good and I spoke to duty manager in the morning to explain what the service lacked, i.e. prompt attention, a menu to share (not one each!), no wine list without asking, no smiles or friendliness from staff, lack of knowledge about menu choice, etc. The food itself was hot and fine, albeit expensive).
Breakfast was served in a different dining room which was better equipped in terms of tables, chairs at appropriate heights, etc.
The pool facilities are a little in need of maintenance too; sections missing in jacuzzi surround, for example. Some lockers don't work as the locks are broken. Mine, once locked, wouldn't open again post swim so a member of staff helped.
