LOCKED OUT
When we arrived at the property we were excited for our stay. Everything was clean and in order. After exploring the property, we could not find the hot tub that was listed. I contacted the owner and received a sarcastic response and then for some reason they shared the private booking and personal contact information of a previous renter.
We had a really nice stay though up until the last night when we got locked out. It was Christmas night and raining. The property has an electronic keypad that was disabled for some reason. We called and texted multiple time and didn’t get an answer until the next morning. We called VRBO and they tried calling to no avail. There were no emergency measures in place in case this happened. The next morning we received a text message, from the property owner, letting us know that there was a lockbox with a key. This information should have been given to VRBO in case of emergency. We ended up having to find a hotel room for the night which made things extremely stressful the next morning. Once we heard from the owner, we only had two hours to get back to the house, pack up all our things, and get our family on the road because we had an event to get back to.
Excuses were made insinuating that maybe we had messed with the modem (which we had not). We didn’t even know where the modem was. We were reimbursed the nightly rate with no additional concessions for the couple of hours that we spent in the rain and the cold, trying to sort this out.
