Even castle towns have super markets. In Portugal, the chain of Pingo Doce are good ones that seem to have the best of both worlds: convenience of a broad range of stuff as well as locally sourced products. And of course they all have a pile of bacalao!

Main tower at the castle. The Marvão castle is much nicer than Castello de Vide!
There's a market every Friday morning at Castello de Vide and the last Fri of the month is the big one. Good place to buy your salted cod! ;-)
Castelo de Vide is a Portuguese town in the district of Portalegre, Alentejo region and sub-region of Alto Alentejo with about 2300 inhabitants.
