A Truly Majestic Mountain Retreat – An Artist’s DelightOur stay at this extraordinary home in Black Mountain was unforgettable. The house is huge, beautifully designed, and offers space for everyone to relax while enjoying breathtaking views from every single room. The location itself feels award-winning—endless mountain ranges and a sweeping valley stretch nearly 90–100 miles into the distance. Visiting during Fall made the scenery even more dramatic, with shifting colors, cloud formations, and sunsets so stunning they felt like a new painting each evening. Watching the sky glow from every floor became a cherished daily ritual for our family.Even with 20 of us staying together, the home never felt crowded. Each room is tastefully decorated, and the lower level became our favorite gathering spot with its crystal-clear short-throw projector and comfortable reclining sofas—perfect for seniors and young adults alike. We meditated on the lawn overlooking the mountains, took long walks down the private road, and enjoyed the ever-changing scenery on this vast mountaintop property. Despite Asheville’s bear population, this location felt completely safe, clean, and well maintained.Ilana and Drew were exceptional hosts—warm, responsive, and incredibly helpful. In just 20 days, this place felt like home. This property is truly special, a place where nature and comfort meet effortlessly. A stay, and we would gladly return next Fall.

The best. Period.

Our family of 14 spent 4 nights at this incredible property. (8 adults, 6 children and 2 dogs). We all travel frequently, and have stayed at rental properties in numerous locations, both domestic and internationally. We unanimously agreed this is the best property we have ever rented. The views were spectacular. The location was very private but still relatively close to the town of Black Mountain (15-20 minutes). The home itself was beautiful, and was - by far - the most lavishly appointed property we have ever stayed in. Every conceivable appliance was provided (all top quality), an abundance of fluffy towels, hand made soaps in each bathroom, projector screen TV with fully reclining theater seating on the terrace level, an unprecedented amount of food items provided, and even a dog run with a treehouse. (I never seen an OUTDOOR kitchen that included a SIX BURNER VIKING RANGE/OVEN.) The owner and property manager were extremely helpful, and even arranged a private chef for us last minute when our original chef was incapacitated. In short - book this property. You will not be disappointed.

This property is absolutely breathtaking. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with stunning mountain views that are truly unforgettable. The home is perfect, and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. We spent Thanksgiving here and were able to prepare our entire holiday meal with no issues—everything we needed was provided! Drew goes above and beyond to ensure a fantastic stay. When the ice maker was out, he personally brought us ice late at night—talk about exceptional service! He’s quick to respond to messages and always makes sure everything is just right. We’ll definitely be staying here again, and again, and again!

This place was magical!

I don't think my words will do justice to how magical and amazing this place is. This was our first time spending Christmas away from our home and we all had the best time ever. Since we booked the house Ilana was very responsive and communicative. Upon our arrival Drew (property manager) - greeted us, showed us the house and explained how everything worked. The view of this house is STUNNING... one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The kitchen not only has everything you need but Ilana was so kind to leave us a welcome package with extra stuff. Our kids loved the game room. They played pool, ping pong, PS5, board games, corn hole among multiple other things. Spending time in the jacuzzi with mountain view was a highlight of the trip. There are so many other wonderful areas in the house! like the outdoor kitchen/fireplace and backyard firepit. This house can comfortably accommodate a big family and Ilana also provided extra pillows/blankets/toiletries which made it super easy. This was the best Christmas gift for our family. We are beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to make lifetime memories in this wonderful place . We will recommend this place to all our friends and family. We would love to be back with them! Thank you Ilana and Mike for letting us enjoy this beautiful - one of a kind place.

Perfection!

This is such a beautiful home. My family had the most wonderful time. The views are spectacular, the home was impeccably clean and well-furnished, and there are plenty of activities (e.g. games galore, great collections of both books and art to enjoy, hiking trail). The property was very private and peaceful, but not too far from town. The host and house manager were easy to reach and very helpful. It was a perfect place to visit and relax. We definitely did not want to leave and hope we can return sometime. Thank you so much, Ilana and Mike, for sharing your incredible home with us! Thank you, Drew, for ensuring everything was just perfect! It truly was a perfect stay!

Over the top!!!!! Exceeded expectations!!!! Didn’t want to leave! The hosts were very accommodating as was Drew, the property manager. Our family of 14 had an abundance of room. The kids loved hide and seek. The pool table, poker table, projection TV, and PS 5 and an array of outdoor games were all big hits. The chef’s patio with a wood burning fireplace was our go to every night. The entire house was spotless, fresh and new. The hosts sparred no expense and it showed. Thank you Ilana, Mike, and Drew. Truly an amazing home.

Nothing Short of Amazing!

Outside of the property being amazing, the views were absolutely incredible! The property manager and host were communicative and always gave us prompt responses. The host thought of every last detail and made our stay one of the most memorable. The property itself was special, and we will definitely be coming back. Living on Mountain Time

Now, this is mountain living at its very best! Everything about this house and location is perfect. We have stayed at several VRBOs; this house was the most well-furnished we've ever stayed in. It had everything you could ever need while being away from home. We had two families, both with kids, and never once was anyone ever bored. Instead, the entire group was always comfortable and entertained, from gathering around the fireplace to having family pool tournaments at night. We had so much fun with great memories! You can easily make day trips from the house as there is plenty to do in the Black Mountain and Asheville areas. We can't wait to plan a trip back as we left wanting to do and see so much more. Thanks, Iilana, Mike, and Drew, for the excellent accommodations, and communication that made for a memorable vacation! House highlights - coffee maker, hot tub, long views, killer porch, pool table/game room, and toilets. Yes, the toilets!

Wow Factor Home with Friendly and Professional Hosts

This house definitely has the “wow” factor. It’s large, well-appointed, filled with fun activities for your family and friends. You could enjoy a visit without ever heaving the house. The owners and property manager (Drew) are responsive and helpful. Drew met us at the house to show us where everything was and how things (e.g., coffee maker, out door grill, hot tub, projection television) worked. The grocery store is a 20 minute drive so it was nice they had shopped for a few essentials which were waiting in fridge. House was spotless. Our two teenaged kids and their two friends spent a ton of time playing ping pong. The downstairs game area is a wonderful place to hang out and watch movies. The kitchen is neat and well organized with anything you need for staying in and cooking. A favorite activity was a hike to the top of Lookout Mountain. Hey Hey Cupcakes is a great little walk-up bakery in town. We usually stay in inspirato homes. This home was every bit as stunning and a wonderful value, absolutely worth the price. The only “problem” we had was we wished there had been some thinner pillows for the beds. The bedding is luxurious and beds are comfortable. The pillows are just very full, which I’m sure some people prefer. Lastly the view from the family room and kitchen is breathtaking. We would definitely visit and stay in this home again. The owners and property manager obviously care about guests having the best possible experience.

Best VRBO we have ever had the pleasure of visiting

Rarely do your expectations get exceeded by the level that ours were. As you make the winding drive up to the property the final climb created another level of excitement. The home sits at the crest of the mountain and expansive views abound as soon as you reach the top. The kids almost jumped out of the car with excitement to go start exploring. We had a wide variety of ages and interests with the adults and kids yet never did anyone have a moment of inactivity or needing their own space. There was always somewhere to sneak away or something to do. The theater room on the bottom floor was a hub of excitement as one of our kids squealed “it has a PS5!” When the fog rolled in the pool table/ping pong table was the hub of activity and then nights on the outdoor porch and crackling fire entertained the big kids. The attention to detail throughout the home and property made it feel like a home not a rental. Everyone in our group found their comfort place to watch football, read, puzzle or game. I think we used every kitchen in the house and each one had everything we could need. The Jura coffee maker was a favorite among our group! Great walks are just out the door and a short drive to Black Mountain to grab coffee, visit a brewery or stop off for some ice cream is a must! The final piece we must mention is Drew. Others have mentioned him, and we will also. He was there at our arrival, welcomed us and shared our excitement for the weekend. A huge source of information and just generally kind and helpful. We literally could write the whole review just about the multiple ways he helped us over the course of our stay. We have already booked our second trip to the home, and it is because of the home, location, owners, and property manager. They all combined to give us a remarkable stay and one that even the hardest to please teenagers were excited to come back again. That alone was the best review we could have hope to get.

Amazing rental in ideal location

If it was possible to give more stars - we would. This is an immaculate property on a wonderfully manicured private setting. The grounds are beautiful and the multi-level deck will allow everyone to spread out. Drew greeted us warmly and did a quick walkthrough on the technical and other important components of the home. Easy guides provided additional support, and Drew was accessible throughout our stay. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. All of the finishes are high end, from the linens to the complementary (locally made) soaps in the bathrooms. I would not hesitate to rent this property and will look to book our fall trip here each year!

Amazing & Beyond Expectations

This property was amazing! Totally surpassed our expectations! We celebrated Thanksgiving at Bear Ridge Manor with our family and had a wonderful time! The views were spectacular and the amenities & cleanliness of the home were unbeatable! There was a lot of room to spread out both inside & out. We really enjoyed everything about this house. Drew, the Manager, was so nice, timely & helpful with all of our needs. We definitely would recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing, luxurious retreat!

perfect for a a large family vacation

This home was wonderful!!! The owners/manager have thought of everything. I honestly can not think of anything that we wanted or needed that were not in this home. It was immaculate, well-appointed and comfortable. There was lots of room and many wonderful areas, both inside in out, for family fun.

5 stars rental rating for Black Moutain Vacation

Out of all of the other 5-star Vrbo locations I have been to, this fantastic vacation home is very beautiful and peaceful. My family and I was so impressed with this luxurious location. It has exceeded all of my expectations. When we arrived at this huge mansion on the top of mountain, the scenery and landscape could never be replaced by any other mountain. Inside this spacious house, we were given a variety of special complementary welcome gifts at the kitchen. It was the first time I rented a place with luxury appliances such as the espresso machine Jura E8, Viking brand, wolf brand from custom built kitchen. The restroom was so clean, especially with the smart TOTO washlet toilet. The owners also provided a room for extra soft towels and warm blankets. This place has got to be the greatest for the kids providing them a theater and gaming station. Especially, there is a Steinway and Sons piano in the living room. My teenage son loves playing due to the clarity and soundful of each note. It has also been a great enjoyment for the adults providing us an 8-ball pool, ping pong table, jacuzzi, multiple decks of cards and poker chips. Above all, my family and I had a best time at this fantastic mountain house. We definitely will come back!!!

Beyond Expectations!

Pictures of this property, although beautiful, do not begin to represent the STUNNING views from every window in this house. When you reach the top of the private road, you are immediately met with the reality that you are on the top of a mountain. The landscaping and exterior of the home are the first hint that the property builders spared no expense in creating an amazing retreat from....everywhere else. We stayed for less than a week, and I returned home feeling like I had escaped for a month. Upon entering the home every person in our group gasped at the panoramic views. The strategically placed deck out the back of the home is two steps down so as not to block the breathtaking landscape at every angle. Each member/couple in our party had his/her/their own bedroom and bath, so everyone was free to breathe and spread out. The hosts provided all amenities needed in each bathroom. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the linens/bedding made us not want to leave. The property offers a hot tub which sits on the lower deck with exquisite views and a step away from a rec room with a pool table and table for card playing. There is no doubt the house was furnished and intended for the guests to relax and enjoy leisure time. The property is also kid friendly as there is a PS5 located in the screening area and although there is art throughout the house, it is sturdy and not too vulnerable. There is ample space for every reason a person or group may want to visit. Both my husband and I had professional work to do and there were enough areas of the home with accountable WIFI, that we were able to get things done while the other guests were about making noise. We visited the town of Bear Mountain, Asheville, Swannanoa, Montreat, and the Biltmore Estate in the short time we were there, and still found time to enjoy the house...so it was very accessible to the most popular tourist attractions/restaurants. I could continue to rave about this home for days. If Bear Mountain/Asheville is a desired place to visit, this home will make you question whether to ever return to where you came from.

Unbeatable Views in a Luxurious Mountain Home

We visited Bear Ridge Manor in mid September. What struck us from the getgo was the quietness and the unobstructed views of hills and valleys. We all commented how lovely it was to vacation in a natural setting complemented by great art and a tasteful home. Amazing kitchens, both indoors and out. The house is great for large groups. Each room offers privacy. The kids could be playing loudly downstairs while the adults can be reading or watching TV upstairs. Walking down and up the road makes for great exercise and you can’t beat the air. Despite the privacy and seclusion of this gorgeous house, we thoroughly enjoyed the selection and proximity to amazing restaurants in both Black Mountain and Asheville. We’ll definitely be back to check out the other seasons. A rare find in a special spot.
