As you approach the building, you can see it is under construction with all the construction supporting poles holding up the balconies on upper floors. The apartment we rented was on the first floor and we couldn't even open the window shutters because they hit into those poles. The poles made it very inconvenient to get in and out of the apt as well. Also the workers and tenants were always walking by and making lots of noise so we couldn't even open the windows partially. The apartment doesn't have AC and it was 30 degrees C outside so it was impossibly hot inside. There was cement cutting and jack hammering all day. There is even a sign there that says there will be construction during the dates of our stay! And the owner covered the bottom opening of the door with a fabric dust guard so the owner obviously knew about the construction.
We contacted the host directly as soon as we saw the construction but he was not helpful at all. He said yes, there is construction, but you can sleep at night. The owner then sent me a copy of the cancellation policy and then completely stopped replying to my emails. This is unacceptable living conditions with the amount of dust and noise we had all day long. I have never spent hundreds of dollars on a place to stay just to have the owner so blatantly and unapologetically not care, not provide even a partial refund, and/or not work with us to find some alternative resolution.
