Belén #market (inside the barrio de Belén, a suburb of Iquitos) is probably the most interesting market I visited in the whole of Peru. As well having the usual (and some of the more unusual) fruits, vegetables, fish, and meats for sale, Belén is where you'll find an abundance of natural products from the nearby Amazon jungle. These are either for sale in their organic state or had been made into various different medicines, tonics, and potions. As this is a poor area and rife with thieves and pickpockets, I would recommend taking a guide - especially if you plan to take photographs (and personally, I think it would be a crying shame not to)

Pedro, the resident jaguar at Pilpintuwasi. Sad to see such a beautiful animal behind a fence, but with deforestation and poaching on the rise, he is safer here.

Pilpintuwasi is a small centre for endangered wildlife on the Amazon River which also doubles as a Butterfly Farm. If you're in Iquitos, this is a must see!
