Every morning at 5am there is a loud banging of a bell/gong from the temple across the street. Don’t bother having the hotel launder your clothes. I had teo very small loads done and it was over $40 usd.

Sophisticated but friendly

It’s our first visit to the oriental Residence, when choosing we were guided by the excellent reviews. Turns out they were richly deserved. The reception team are an absolute delight, we were quickly checked-in by Khun Ang, upgraded to a suite and settled within minutes. The suite was spacious, nicely decorated, with a comfortably bed and spacious bathroom. From our balcony we had a great view of the green park area behind the American embassy. The suite included a large fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and hob plus pans,plates and cutlery, so ideal if you are planning a longer stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay. The residence is located in an upmarket part of the city, north of Lumpini park, it feels a bit far from restaurants and nightlife interest, so you will need to use taxis.
