we checked in and at 10:15pm there was a strong smell in the room and hallway on the 2nd floor. Sewer gas/natural gas. it woke up my son and he woke me up. went down to the desk they gave us a new room on the 3rd floor. same smell so packed up a left the hotel at 10:30pm. can I get a refund? we had to drive 6 hours to Amarillo, TX which was our next night stay on our way to AZ. Arrived well after the 3pm check in time only to find out our room was not ready yet and they did not have a timeframe of when it would be ready. Took at least 30 mins to even get to check in because the front desk clerk was outside on her phone taking a personal phone call then proceeded to come inside and continue her personal phone call and not help anyone. I was not even acknowledged that I was there or was even told they would be with me when they could. They just completely ignored me. Room was clean for the most part, the bath tub had some dirt residue leftover. I have never had issues at a holiday inn, but the initial experience is making me second guess finding my go to hotel for stays.
