I did not like being surprised that there was a $100 incidental charge when I checked in

Nice hotel - nice room too

Pros: Room and valet
Cons: Front desk staff slow, not well trained. Restaurant food was OK, but better food in town.
Location: Many activities nearby. We came in summer. Resort town feel.

Do not look any further, stay at the lodge

I wish I could give this place more than five stars, the staff was excellent from the bar staff such as chappy, wheeler, Garrett etc.… Dave the concierge was excellent he was very attentive you never needed for anything he was just so professional and accommodating the shuttle staff was outstanding the lodge at whitefish takes and picks you up free of charge ( just remember to tip) I stayed in the Viking lounge in room 180 which is at the very end of the hotel and I absolutely loved the room it was very private and almost soundproof you have a private back door that faces out to the woods where you could take a nice leisurely stroll the food at the dining room is excellent I think it is some of the best in Montana , I just can't say enough about the lodge at whitefish I cannot wait to visit again next year do yourself a favor pamper yourself and stay at the lodge at whitefish you won't be disappointed

Worn out bed...

I arrived and was greeted by open doors and a smile at the front desk that said I had a nice comfy, quiet room on the other side of the road (not lake side) overlooking the nature preserve. I drove over and there was heavy equipment working next to the building. My room was on the other side so I didn't hear any equipment noise but did feel vibrations from the heavy equipment and the nature preserve is just the trees next to the road with a big black silt fence running the length of the property. Road traffic was very loud. I crawled into bed about 10pm to find a mattress shaped like a "W" as if two severely obese people slept in it for 20 years before I got there. After attempting to fall asleep for several hours in the most uncomfortable bed I've ever been in, I began calling the front desk at 2am. After getting no sleep at all and getting no answer to my calls I put on some clothes and walked down to the front desk at 8:30am. Evidently somebody had turned down the ringer on the phones at the front desk. Who does that?? I explained the bed situation to the gal at the front desk who then relayed the info to the manager on duty and was offered a "free breakfast"....The manager never came out to talk with me but when I got back to my room the phone phone rang and I was offered three options: A: they'd replace the bed, B: I could move to the other side of the building next to the construction, or C: they'd move me to the main lodge into another room (not overlooking the lake). Of course I chose option "C". I was never offered a refund on my first nights stay, a voucher for another visit, or anything but a "free breakfast" for the worst night I've ever spent in a hotel room. I don't think I'll be staying at the Lodge at Whitefish Lake anytime in the future. The place is awesome in every aspect except for their willingness to satisfy an unhappy customer. Isn't that how you get return business? By the way....this is the first time I've ever complained when I travel and I travel alot for business.

Excellent Place to Stay!

Pros: Quiet
I stayed in the Viking Lodge which is across the street from the main lodge, definately a beautiful place to stay. It was absolutely wonderful! I did look at the notes from other guest to get ideas of what to request, but I was disappointed more about the reviews or suggestions. If you ask for Preserve Views you are asking to look at woods, nothing spectaculiar but a nice forest (supposely rooms with two queen beds) - if you ask for King beds it is overlooking parking lot BUT you also get a view of the mountain which is WOW! Honestly the rooms are wonderful and no matter what room you need I dont think you will be disappointed. They all have fireplaces and are nicely decorated with the lodge/Montana feel. You arent in the room that much so views should not matter that much, but to cozy up with a book or good movie after dark is nice by the fire. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They all seemed to go above and beyond to help. I really enjoyed the shuttle drivers they were very knowledgeable and had great suggestions as to what to be sure to see and do. (Very Nice Touch!) I traveled during the off season which was real nice, definately get alot of peace and quiet.

A bit of a surprise at breakfast----missed the small sign. Thought the breakfast was complimentary----turned out $12 each. Not even free coffee.
