Beware: Stay elsewhere in Trinidad

I’m sure Trinidad as a city is lovely! That said - this hotel seriously sucks. This was quite possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I was told I was staying in a non smoking room. The whole “inn” absolutely reeked. Cigarette smoke billowed through the hallways. The room itself didn’t smell exactly like smoke, but rather an overpowering smell of a previous smokers room, covered up in a cheap way. I couldn’t sleep through the smell. I voluntarily left at 3am to continue on my road trip. Bed was large and looked nice visually, but the pillows were super uncomfortable. Staff was disinterested and not hospitable. I guess it’s a cheap overnight, but be careful what you pay for. Not nice at all.

Room had cobwebs, a power outlet didnt have the top, could be a fire hazard. Trashcans outside room where overflowing. Sofa in room was super stained. Not to mention had the cleaning lady trying to open the room door 3 times between 8-8:30AM!

The staff is nice, but the rooms are old and outdated. I've stayed here before, same experience. Hate to say it, but the bed spread on one of the beds had "residue" stuck on it, the source of which I'm sure you can deduce. Pretty gross. The tv's are super small, and the chair at the desk was about 30 years old and super uncomfortable. The hallway doors leading outside don't lock, so anyone can walk around inside the facility. Positives: Like I said, staff is nice, the indoor pool is HUGE! Probably done staying here though. It's just now worth the money.

The hotel was quite a surprise, it’s beautiful, like some great old fashioned lodge. With this beautiful indoor pool in the middle of the great room. The rooms are enormous the views astounding and the staff is the best. This place should be a destination hotel.

Highly recommend!

My stay was a stop on a long driving trip. The hotel was clean and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. My room was large, clean and comfortable. I would definitely stop there again. The location is close to 25, so I could hop right on and get going the next morning.
