Beautiful, peaceful home on a lake.

We enjoyed our weekend with family at this cozy home. There is a cottage next to the home that’s a little older but very spacious, with beautiful lake views. Also enjoyed the fire pit and fishing in the lake. Thank you for a great stay.

Great Fall Stay

What a great place to stay! This is our second year here, and it was as nice as before. Beautiful scenic view of High Lake, very clean, great fire pit, guest house for overflow, tons of room, awesome game room in finished basement (although this is second year the Galaga video has been out of order…was a bummer seeing it still out of order). But the billiard table and air hockey table was great. Lots of games there for kids and adults. Close to Traverse City. Peegeo’s restaurant/bar just down the street. Gave it 5 stars, because the Galaga game being out of order is just a tiny bummer. Would not change my mind about this place.

Wine tour weekend

The house and property was absolutely amazing. Kurt was a great host who responded to all my questions very quickly. We had 12 adults in the home and There is plenty of room for more people without feeling crowded. The lake was beautiful and had clear water in it. A summer weekend would be amazing there. The house is a short distance from anything you want to do. I highly recommend this rental to anyone who likes a quiet secluded woodsy feel but being close to the city life.

Great getaway

The house was very clean but the beds weren’t very comfortable. You also only get one roll of toilet paper per bathroom which isn’t great for a large group. Cleaning fee is also too high. The view is great and loved the welcome gift :)

Good Experience Overall

Our visit was for a 4 night annual family vacation in late August. The weather didn't cooperate fully, but the kids braved the water anyhow and it was overall a good experience. Pros: Great location in proximity to neighbors, area (road wasn't too busy), and close to Traverse for a day trip. House was spacious and games in basement provided additional fun when it was too chilly to swim. Disney+ on tv for movie nights (this was great for kids while adults made dinner). Garage to store items in. Second cabin was a nice feature as well as a nice fire pit with lots of seating. Gas grill was convenient as well as all of the kitchen utensils provided. Cons: Beach is very small and shaded 80% of the swimming hours which made it harder to enjoy when the weather was on the chillier side for August. Pontoon was too expensive to rent which was a huge bummer. Only one toilet paper roll per bathroom, one trash bag, one detergent pod, etc for a group of 13. This meant that we had to pack all of the extras we would use which was a pain in the butt for traveling. Two of the beds were old and worn out (could feel springs in mine, other one was very caved in in the middle - more like a hammock). Mice scampering in ceiling kept basement bedroom members awake (they are addressing the mice problem though and made us aware when we arrived). Bees swarmed the deck and dock area. Overall the stay was decent and probably would have been better if it was warmer out. For our family, we need a better beach so we wouldn't stay again but I could see this being a great setup for other families who weren't as interested in the water / beach time.

Lovely house, gorgeous lake, excellent area for summer vacation.

This place met every expectation for an idyllic week in August -- and we barely began to explore the options in the greater Traverse City area! . The house was perfect for family, easily absorbing our nine adults & teenagers. (We could have added four more, without the house ever seeming crowded.) Downstairs, groups played pool in the game room, or gathered around the living room table or the card table, and we didn't even use all the sofas and chairs. Upstairs, we settled around the dining/living area sofas and the large dining table (easy room for ten adults, and four more could have sat at the island). There was always someone happily settled on the deck, which has ample tables for a dozen people playing, working, reading, lake-watching or dining. Meanwhile, the cottage down the walk to the beach provided a sweet getaway-within-the-getaway, for a quiet cup of coffee overlooking the lake (and changing rooms for swimmers). . I spent most of my time in, on or next to the lake: I watched the fog burn off the surface at sunrise, swam and paddle-boarded in the afternoons, and built fires in the fire-pit at night. I considered learning the names of the many different evergreens and deciduous trees that shade the property, but in the end I was content just to paddle around under them. . We didn't go out much -- we were in relaxing mode -- but we enjoyed the local groceries (highly recommend Oryana's) and strolling around downtown. Our one hike was a mile on the Cottonwood Trail at Sleeping Bear Dunes: bring more water than you think you'll need, enjoy the spectacular views, and watch for monarch butterflies! Their food is the milkweed that grows in the sand.
