Nice updated hotel in downtown Spokane

The hotel was cute & right in the heart of downtown Spokane. We checked in & found no parking available so we parked across the street in a metered lot. We were informed that parking was free on Sundays, which is NOT true as I received a parking ticket! The breakfast is not available on site but is a block away at another hotel. Not a big deal but it was the worst continental breakfast I have ever experienced. There was nothing but dry cereal, English muffins and a broken waffle maker which cooked globs of dough instead of waffles even when the directions were thoroughly followed. As a suggestion perhaps the hotel could extend the hours of the breakfast on Sundays, a practice followed by many hotels where I have stayed. And also replenish food that has run out or at least have adequate enough for the number of guests staying at both locations.

Thank you for your kind review of our property! We aim to give all our guests a memorable experience. We are sorry the continental breakfast we provide did not meet your expectations. We greatly appreciate your valuable feed back and suggestions! We also apologize you received a parking ticket. City-monitored parking is indeed free on Sundays (7pm Saturday night to 8am Monday morning). Unfortunately there are some privately owned lots in the area that still charge. We hope to welcome you back on your next visit to Spokane!

Great place centrally located

Pros: Roomy, excellent staff, great location
Cons: Construction complete, towels and bedding reuse/conservation
Location: Great restaurants and venues located close, including shopping and leisure activities.
The hotel rooms were large and comfortable. There was remodeling/construction going on during our stay, so the central atrium of the building was not completed. This did not deter from any of the accommodations, but was not what I expected. I also wanted to minimize my impact by conserving the use of my towels and bedding, but there was not a method for allowing for reuse of our towels, etc. Great place and I would stay there again.

Great location in the heart of downtown

Pros: Felt homey. Very large rooms.
Cons: They are in the process of painting and upgrading. Need larger TV's.
Location: Heart of downtown. Also close to the mall.
Very quaint hotel. Feel European. The rooms could use some upgrading and larger TV's.

Very old school

The hotel has a very historic decore from the wooden floors to the antique furniture. The room was a little on the small side but the comfy king size bed and the jetted tub more than made up for it.

Good for the price

Pros: price, free wifi, good reading chair/light, large bathroom.
Cons: overall room lighting, bathroom counter space (2 small shelves, no vanity), window blinds (let in dawn).
Location: location OK; couple of boarded-up stores but also an excellent bakery (Rocket) open at 6am.
Came for a convention at the Spokane Convention Center (~.8 miles away). Didn't use room during day but it was certainly a usable base for tourism. Some night noise due to facing railroad tracks 1 block away (most rooms don't face tracks).

A lovely stay and a great bargain for the price

Pros: Reasonable rates, historic charm, good cable, great location, very comfy bed.
Cons: It would be nice to have blackout curtains, but the blinds were fine.
Location: Loved Auntie's Bookstore! Best bookstore I've been to in decades. Huge selection of books in a wonderful old mercantile building.
I came to the Montvale with some trepidation after reading the critical reviews, but my stay definitely exceeded my expectations. The person who checked me in was friendly and responsive; the room was extremely nice for the reasonable rate. Bed was super comfortable and bathroom was beautiful. I was a bit concerned when I saw how close and numerous the trains were outside my pleasant window, but I slept like a baby for all three nights and would stay here again without hesitation. A great weekend and value!

Awesome Hotel in midst of all the down town action

Pros: I liked everything. They employees were kind, the room was clean and awesome, and I loved the bathroom! I also loved the building!
Cons: I could hear my neighbors TV. It was not at all loud or bothered me it was just something I noticed. Parking was tricky but I figured it out.
At first I was skeptical about what I had just booked, but upon arrival I was shocked. It is a very awesome building inside and out! I only stayed one night but what I did see I loved. I got a deal and had a free upgrade to a, fancier I suppose, suite. Their was 24hr coffee and tea and an awesome lounge area on the second floor. It was very easy to check in and the 24hr open desk was convenient for the time I came in.

Antique with character but a bit dirty

Very cool hotel with a lot of character and antiques throughout. Beds were clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly. However, the bathroom shower curtain was dirty with pinkish red mildew all over it and previous occupants hairs on the tub floor. Kinda gross. Also, the carpet in the entire facility including our room was very dirty looking, worn down, and old. Needs to be replaced. We were happy with our stay though in spite of the cleanliness issues. If they just cleaned a bit better in the showers and replaced the carpet throughout, it would be a wonderful place to stay.

Clean, comfortable but never again

Hotel was old but nice and the room was nice and was clean. But we had an unpleasant experience with someone playing loud music. There is a train track right behind the hotel and there was a lot of noise from the street. Nope..... never again
