Not worth your time

Pros: The view is amazing
Cons: Service
Unfortunately, the service at Ladera doesn't match the expense. We recently just stayed for three nights. I scheduled a car to pick us up at the airport that never came. When we arrived to the hotel there was no one at the front (even though the hotel was aware of our arrival time based on our back and forth correspondence). The front desk attendant was very nice but they never apologized for not picking us up. It only got worse from there. They messed up our food orders (more than once), never came to the pool to offer service or drinks, and gym machines were all broken (except one bike). To top it off the electricity went out the second night for 45 minutes to an hour and they never even apologized to the people staying. We met another couple that was appalled that they never even offered us a free cocktail. We left and went to Viceroy, Total 360* difference. Only stay there!

Beautiful hotel in the mountains

Pros: Open rooms with amazing views of Piton mountains and beautiful flowers/plants. Each room has its own pool and a spacious open shower.
Location: Hotel property is in the mountains - a 15 minute drive down to the beach. 15 minute drive to town of Soufriere and also near volcano and mud springs.
Beautiful hotel in the mountains with views of the Pitons and Sugar Beach down below. A truly magical experience with spacious 'open' rooms and 'open' showers. Truly exceptionally friendly staff and excellent food - a world away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Just as pictured and described!

Pros: The staff was first class, always available to make your stay perfect! The resort was clean, beautiful, secluded and unique!
Cons: I would suggest getting a rental car, the taxi's are expensive. Also I don't think they should be as strict with a dress code for the restaurants.
Location: The resort is secluded between the Pitons; the town of Soufriere, Sugar Beach (water activities), the Soufriere Volcano and waterfalls are close by.
From the moment we arrived, our stay was nothing less than perfect. The staff was willing to go above and beyond to make sure we had everything we could ever need for our stay to be perfect. There was always someone available to answer questions. No matter what room you stay in, as soon as you open the door it will take your breath away. As along as you turn the lights off when it starts getting dark you will have no bug problems. The only noises you will hear are the nature noises and the waterfall from the pool if you keep it on at night (I would suggest keeping it on, it washes out the frog noises at night). I thought we were going to be hot at night because of the missing wall but there is always a cool breeze that flows through your room. We didn't know there was a dress code for the restaurant on the resort for dinner (Men bring collared shirts, slacks and close toed shoes, women can wear sundresses and dress sandals) They do not turn anyone away though so don't sweat it. The resort attendants at the concierge will help you set up excursions that I would highly recommend doing. There's a free shuttle that takes you to Sugar Beach everyday and they offer a lot of water activities for you to do. The only issue we had was that the taxi fares were very expensive and we didn't get to do some excursions because of that, so we would recommend getting a rental car, it'll be worth it. Overall our honeymoon to Ladera Resort was perfect! We will be back to visit for sure!

Beautiful, unique Honeymoon spot!

My husband and I just spent the last 3 day of our Honeymoon at Ladera in a Gros Piton Suite. You will have amazing views anywhere you go in this resort, whether it is the restaurant, bar, pool or your room. In terms of decor, I would say that my room was rustic-chique. And with the exposed 4th wall, you are essentially "glamp-ing". You need to be okay with lizards and birds in your room, but that said, your bed is very well protected under a bug-netting canopy. My husband loved the plunge pool. I would suggest keeping the fountain running to avoid hearing your neighbors (a tip from another reviewer).  The staff is very friendly and they will remember you and your room number in no time at all. They truly do their best to please and make sure that your stay is all that you wanted it to be. In terms of food, we ate at Dasheene the first night. It was delicous but very expensive. The second night we had small plates at the bar for dinner and that worked out very well - delicous and much less expensive! The vegetable phyllo pastry and the saltfish accras were my favorites. In terms of amenities, I enjoyed a relaxing day lounging at the pool with my book while my husband hiked up the Gros Piton. The views are to die for. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Ladera. You go there for the view, relaxation and the unique experience of open-air living. We would definitely go back for an anniversary when we can afford one of the swankier rooms (although we did love our room and view).

3rd visit

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants
We just have returned from our 3rd visit to The Ladera Resort. The views from the newly renovated suite M were absolutely spectacular and provided an amazing view of the ocean and the great Pitons right in front of us. Not only did we enjoy the great food in the Dasheene restaurant but also the nightly entertainment provided by local artists. We certainly are planning to go back and can highly recommend Ladera to anyone who is looking for a very unique resort.

You can't ask for anything more...

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, wildlife
My wife and I stayed 8 nights in the hill top dream suites and had an amazing time. We traveled around the entire island and there is no place as beautiful as Ladera. The views are peerless. The staff at Ladera are amazing as well. You will be amazed at how friendly and attentive they are. The staff make you feel like you're one of the family (well, the lazy one that gets everyone else to cook and clean). It's just an amazing place. We're planning on going back to St. Lucia and we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

amazing views, friendly staff, romantic. nosier than i hoped it would be, beach shuttle on a schedule not based on when you actually want to go.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, view
I was upgraded from the Gros Piton suite to a one bedroom villa upon arrival. The views were stunning and the room was as unique as you'd expect. Plunge pool was great. I had a few issues though given the location of the room (closest to entrance and restaurant). It could get a bit noisier than I would've liked. I would have preferred a greater sense of exclusion. There was a lot of movement from cars pulling up and you could hear guests hanging out by the lounge areas just beyond the walls of our room. Also, there was a small gap between the wall separating my plunge pool and that of my neighbors. Less savory guests could have peeped in if they liked. The hotel can easily solve the problem by covering up these small spaces. I forgot to pack sandals and when I asked staff if they could help, I was told I'd have to take a taxi into town and find some. Not what you want to hear after paying a decent amount of money to stay in the hotel. I later found a pair in the hotel gift shop, which irritated me further. The food was great. Although, on our last night, we were put into a completely empty part of the restaurant. I thought the much livelier upper level may have been closed for a special event, but when I asked, I was told this was merely because they wanted to give the waitress covering our dim lower level business. This hotel is very expensive - not just rooms, but the price of everything once you're there, so be prepared. Be ready for bugs in the rooms at night. The mosquito nets do a decent job, but they will find there way in and I'm still itching. Frogs and lizards, too. It is to be expected though, so I didn't really mind. We were provided with beach chairs to visit Anne Chastenet beach. One was broken. The service to and from this beach is infrequent, so when we missed an early morning shuttle to and from, we had to pay our way. Despite my negativity, the hotel was overall beautiful and you simply cannot beat the view.

Perfect for a second honeymoon

St Lucia is an absolutely gorgeous island. The views are spectacular and the people warm and friendly. We found Ladera to be the perfect place for our second honeymoon. It is secluded, up on a hill looking down to the ocean between the two pitons. At first the concept of no fourth wall was a bit scary. However, we loved it! You really experience the beauty of St Lucia. I would recommend this island and resort in a heartbeat!

Gorgeous Honeymoon Resort with Spectacular Service!

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet, amazing service, gorgeous views
My husband and I spend 1 week at the Ladera Resort for our honeymoon this summer. We were greeted by the manager and by staff who were exceptionally courteous and friendly. The resort is unique in that all of the guest rooms are open - so we had fresh air, light breezes and a gorgeous view of the Pitons and ocean below, all from our room. We really did not have any issues with bugs or moths since the room was open unless we left the lights on for a long time at night. The beaches were just a short shuttle ride away, and the hotel had complimentary snorkeling equipment to use. The resort's restaurant had an amazing dinner menu; every entree that we had was amazingly delicious! We took advantage of the resorts room service menu for breakfast on several occasions, and were delighted with the spread of local fruit, fresh baked breads, omelets, papaya jams, juices and coffee. We truly could not think of a single complaint for this resort while we were staying there, and we didn't want to leave!! We have been recommending Ladera to all of our family and friends ever since!
