We loved the quaintness of this property and the convenient location. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine. If you can’t walk up and down stairs then this is probably not the property for you. There is a very small lift to the third floor. (We were on 4th so had a few more stairs to climb with luggage.) We did fine. However, we were on the side where the wind was blowing from so we had a bit of a sleepless night. (No fault of the hotel) Weather was so bad that ferries didn’t cross all day. Disappointing, as our stay revolved around visiting Bellagio etc.

Hotel Belvedere

3.0 Nice but
The hotel was nice but missing that extra something. For example, there were no shampoo or toiletries at the "famed" spa. Also, although sufficiently staffed, the morning breakfast attendance barely acknowledged the guests and when asked for something indicated it was at the buffet. So, retraining on being helpful is in order!

Hotel Britannia Excelsior

1.0 your room will be "unavailable" due to admin error
Let me be clear, if you book this hotel there is a good chance they will bump you to a lesser inland hotel. I booked and paid for our room 2 months before. I particularly wanted a hotel with lake views and access on the lake. On arrival I was Told that our room was unavailable because a "new girl" double booked the room. As we were being told this, several tour groups arrived and were booked in. We were told that we were moved to another hotel, no lake views and a small, rear facing, room. The room looked into the freezer equipment and kitchen area. On checking the reviews it became clear that they have been doing this to guests all the time. Check for yourself. My guess is they collect bookings at lake front prices, farm out guests to cheaper hotels, and pocket the difference. I saw more guests arriving at our new hotel with the same story. Britannia did comp a meal for us and while the food was basic, it was fine. The service, however, was terrible. Too many people a a few exhausted waiters unable to cope.

Hotel Excelsior Splendide

5.0 Great Hotel
Really enjoyed the stay in Bellagio. Having a rental car was the right choice, but the hotel had no parking for guests cars. The hotel room had no shower curtain and no kleenex type tissue.
