CHARMING HOUSE IN THE COUNTRY

Charming cottage 2/7 pers. renovated in 2011, in Birkenwald, a small village typical of Northern Alsace (border of the Northern Vosges, 35km from Strasbourg), renowned for its castle, its deer park, and its two restaurants appreciated by connoisseurs.

ENVIRONMENT:
The cottage is located on a private plot of 60 ares (forest and marked trails only 200m).

THE HOUSE:
The cottage is located in a wing of an old Alsatian house restored in early 2011. We wanted to keep all the charm of the exposed beams and lime-painted cob walls, while bringing the modern touch essential to the well-being of our guests.

All shops at 5 km in the village of Marmoutier and 11 km from Saverne

Almost the last house in the village, a small road will take you to our cottage (light traffic)

A space in the garden is also provided with garden furniture and pétanque ground.

Lovely Alsace gite
The gite was tastefully decorated and had all the equipment you need. We visited in a heat wave and the gite was nice and cool and a has a huge bathroom / walk in shower. Lovely terrace outside which gives privacy from neighbours. Matthieu lives opposite and was on hand for anything we needed but not at all intrusive. Also lots of lovely forests nearby to walk or cycle in and it's near enough to the German border to easily have a day in Germany.

Lovely place, perfect for relaxing holiday
A well appointed cottage with lots of space. Very friendly and helpful host. Only reason not to give location 5 stars was the slow Internet. Only a problem for the younger members of the party, and not the host’s fault!

Peaceful Stay
We spent a week in this lovely cottage with lot of character. It is situated in a peaceful village. The cottage is equipped with all necessities and we looked forward to return to it after a day hopping from one amazing village to another. A very good variety of wines and juices are available at very ready prices. The owner of the cottage, Matthieu, is very friendly and helpful. He provided us with information of places to visit. One can even order freshly baked bread from Matthieu. We definitely recommend this cottage.

Gemütliches Bauernhaus
Das Haus ist liebevoll eingerichtet und Matthieu hat sich toll um uns gekümmert. Es gibt die Möglichkeit über Matthieu frisches Baguette und Croissants zu bestellen die dann in einer Kiste abgeholt werden können. So kann ein Tag dann wunderbar starten.

Schönes Ferienhaus in ruhiger Umgebung
Sehr schönes Ferienhaus direkt am Waldrand eines kleinen Dörfchen‘s. Wer ein bisschen Ruhe sucht ist hier an der richtigen Adresse. Das Haus ist sehr charmant eingerichtet, die Küche außergewöhnlich gut ausgestattet und der Gastgeber auch sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit! Die private Terrasse bietet auch an heißen Tagen Schatten, im Vordergrund kann man Basketball spielen, gemeinsam im schönen Gemeinschaftsbereich sitzen, oder einfach nur die Ruhe genießen. Wir fanden den Aufenthalt sehr schön und kommen bei Gelegenheit auch sehr gern wieder!
