This historic Art Deco styled Conoco Gas station is on Route 66 and has an attached diner that has the booth that Elvis Presley sat in marked.

The station may look familiar as it was the inspiration for Ramones Garage from the animated Cars movie franchise.

A fabulous diversion from the interstate to Route 66 to see such an amazing piece of American history

Shamrock is a small Texas town of less than 2000. Which proves NOT everything is "bigger" in Texas! The U-Drop-Inn Inn is housed in this restored 1950's era Conoco gas station which is on the Old Route 66 route from Chicago Illinois to the Santa Monica Pier in California The price on the pump, representative of the era was 34.9¢
We’ve exited I-40 in East Texas to check out a Route 66 landmark. The U-Drop Inn Cafe and Conoco Tower Gas Station were built in 1936 and quickly became a hot spot for travelers. It was restored in 2004 and now operates as a museum and the Chamber of Commerce for the town of Shamrock.
