The property is in a fantastic location, and the hotel itself is modern and just a year old. What truly sets this place apart is the incredible staff. They are friendly, attentive, and go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. Moises at Guest Services was exceptional. I had a booking issue through a third party, and he took it upon himself to resolve it quickly and with a positive attitude. On top of that, he was kind enough to upgrade our room, making our experience even more special. His dedication turned a stressful moment into a wonderful memory. Johanna from Housekeeping was warm and thorough, and Damian, the bellboy, was equally helpful and kind. Don’t miss dining at Zola Restaurant, and be sure to ask for Eric. His recommendations for both food and wine were spot-on, and he made our evening extra special. Even the security and valet parking staff stood out. Always kind, smiling, and genuinely happy to help, their welcoming attitude added to the sense of comfort and care throughout our stay. This getaway was exactly what my husband and I needed: peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing. A gentle reminder to future guests: please remember to tip the staff. They work incredibly hard and, while wages in the Dominican Republic may be low, the service and hospitality are truly five-star. Be kind, be generous, and be respectful when visiting another country. This hotel is a gem, but it’s the people who truly make it shine. Highly recommend staying here

Beautiful accommodation in the heart of zona colonial that however didn't meet our expectations on the service side: Wrong room assigned at check-in and were asked to move to another room just shortly after having settled in, no hot water in the room until requested, large amounts wrongly charged to our credit card and we had to return several times to reception to address this - Issue remains unresolved almost one week after our departure and we can only assume that our card was linked to another room.

We stayed in Kimpton Las Mercedes for our Anniversary. Upon arrival we were advised that the pool would not be available for the two first days of our stay. This was extremely inconvenient since we had booked the resort specifically for its pool access and had wanted to enjoy it those first two days, since the following days we had excursions booked. We were provided with access to small Jacuzzis. However when we attempted to use the Jacuzzis and after requesting service the first day, no staff came to assist. Once the pool did open there was also no staff to take your drink orders during the day, you had to call in your orders. Most evenings had private events which was inconvenient and limited access to the hotel grounds. Additionally every morning at 7am we were woken up by staff either power washing the floors, vacuuming or buffing. Breakfast was nice but expensive. The free tastings of wine, rum and chocolate were also nice. All in all we would not recommend the hotel if you are looking to relax or have a romantic getaway.

The hotel is nice, clean, modern, and centrally located. Service is slow, and the operation at the pool is a hot mess. They claim to have a pool bar, but it is never open and when you order a drink, they have to get it from the bar in the main floor, which takes quite some time. Pool also had no available towels, and it took some time for them to be replaced. Would stay there again, but prefer the service and ambiance at the nearby Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando. Manager (guy) talked to me to make things right and assure me that he would take care of it personally, but I never heard back from him. Another manager, named Barbara, was more helpful. Other guests had same issues.
