Marriott Marina

Pros: Everything! Especially the pools and grounds. The room was quiet and comfortable.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Assagio's deep dish pizza is the best. We got one of those and a margarita and sat by the ocean to eat.
Great hotel. Service, room, food and pools were top notch.

Underwhelmed in San Diego

This is a beautiful hotel. If you are into the over-the-top resort experience it has all the amenities. In typical resort fashion everything is grossly overpriced. One example was the hotel Starbucks was 50% higher than the same drink just 4 blocks away. If you are going w a big group, like to people watch or want to be seen, then this might be a good choice. However it was too crowded and busy for my taste, so I likely won't stay here again. When I visit Las Vegas I expect this type of steril resort machine, but I didnt expect that from this location. It was clean and beautiful, but it lacked charm, sole, and personal service. Just know what you are getting into.

Great location to take in all of the sights!

This was a great hotel for our week vacation. We are a young married couple and we were on the move everyday. Easily rented bikes to see the Midway and took a taxi to San Diego zoo. The best trip was the La Jolla beach tour where the green old town trolley picked us up right in front of the marriot. We also loved the ferry to Coronado about a block from hotel for a gorgeous beach day and bike riding around the island. Bring a towel since you can go swimming at the public beach - just gorgeous. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the tequila bar was really cool too. It was nice to have the tropical pool setting to use as well to just relax a little. Overall we had a really fun and relaxing trip!

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, Convention access

Pros: Everything
Cons: More services like massage or mani/pedi shops.
Location: Marina & boardwalk access including park, shops and the Midway. Quick walk to town for shopping, art galleries, food & drinks (so many restaurants!)
I loved staying at the Marriott Marquis & Marina. It is a beautiful location, on the marina with a great view, great bars and restaurants, the friendliest staff and easy access to the convention center and boardwalk. There's no better place to stay in San Diego.

Exactly what you'd expect -- Good

Nice comfortable room, slept welll, nice balcony. Decor and bathrooms a little of out date, but nothing terrible. Take Ocean View with a grain of salt -- at least from where I was. I was on the Ocean side of the hotel, but essentially had They get you on Parking and Internet -- which was outrageous for a room in the $350 range.

Love location. Should get a room w/a water view.

Cons: Would have liked to have a lighted magnification makeup mirror in the bathroom and a bathtub for soaking. Also better speaker system for music.
Stayed for 8 nights. Room was nice. Loved the view. Had booked a room facing the water with a balcony and it was well worth it! The fitness center was wonderful with plenty of great equipment always available. Loved the fire pits around the pool, nice to sit around on a cool evening.

Perfect Location

Pros: The location is perfect. Short distance from the airport. Everything you need is within walking distance. Downtown comes alive in the evening.
Cons: Room Service. And towels in the shower area.
Location: Can't go wrong at Richard Walkers Pancake House. The wait is worth it. The Shout House piano bar is a good time. Check out lounge at US Grant Hotel
Very nice hotel close to every thing downtown. All within walking distance. Loved our clean, comfortable, spacey room with balcony overlooking the bay. Staff was exceptional. My only complaint would be room service which was delivered as "take out" in a bag with plastic utensils. Very good but missed the luxury of a lazy morning with real cups and plates. I certainly see the efficiency but I do enjoy my morning coffee and breakfast as a luxury while on vacation. With all that said, I still would recommend this hotel and will more than likely stay again.

Great room but charged for everything

Pros: Nice accommodations, clean room, friendly staff.
Cons: Staff should try to be more attentive to guests.
Location: This is near the Gaslamp district so there are plenty of things to do day and night.
This is a comfortable, clean room, but the walls are very thin. The staff is friendly, but does not go out of their way to be helpful. The thing that bothered me the most about my stay here was the hotel charged for everything - things that lower end chains in the same area offer for free. Upon booking through Travelocity I took note that the reservation indicated the room would include free wi-fi for my stay. Upon arriving, the hotel staff informed me that to get "free" wi-fi I would have had to book directly through Marriott and use existing Marriott reward points. Having to redeem earned points is still not free, and furthermore, the people in charge of permitting the motel to be booked through services such as Travelocity should make sure to indicate that guests who fail to book directly through Marriott will not receive free in-room wi-fi. At the time I stayed there the wi-fi cost 12.95 per day for the slower speed. Along with charging for supposed free wi-fi them hotel also charged $30 per DAY for parking. I understand that paid parking is the norm in the district, but if I am shilling out the money for a nice hotel, I expect to be able to park for free or at minimum for a one time reasonable fee that would cover the entire stay. The fee when I stayed at this hotel was $30 per day, I could understand having to pay $30 for the stay, but EVERY day?! Other lower-end hotels in the district offer free parking and free in-room wi-fi.
