Trastevere: cozy and charming apartment

The apartment is situated in a quiet, non touristy part of Trastevere where you can soak in the roman atmosphere. It is a stone's throw away from the-one- of a kind boutiques, trendy bars and trattorias, and a short walk along the charming medieval roads will take you to the main historical sites. The apartment is on the third floor in an elegant and historical palazzo dating 12th century in a non-elevator building. There are two comfortable double bedrooms
- Bedroom number 1 (the rose room) has a French bed (55 inch) and an ensuite bathroom with a shower and hair dryer;
- Bedroom number 2 (the gray room) has a double bed which can be separated into twin beds, an ensuite bathroom with
a shower and hair dryer
The living room has a sofa that can be used as a sofa bed, a table that seats 4 and a TV. One of the bedrooms has the flexibility to accommodate double or twin beds - perfect for a family, two couples or a group of friends. The bathrooms are modern and both have showers. From the first bedroom there is a lovely view of the Garden of Oranges on the Aventine Hill. If you visit the hill you will be treated to beautiful views of the eternal city. The living / dining room is light and comfortable, There is a kitchenette which is functional and neatly tucked away along the corridor. It is fully equipped, perfect for cooking basic meals like pasta, light lunches, salads etc. with 2 stove top units, a refrigerator, a microwave oven and a toaster oven.
But why spend too much time cooking when you can be sitting outside - al fresco - at a trattoria sampling the roman cuisine with a glass of Frascati! The apartment also offers Internet Wi-Fi (if you are traveling with your own computer); adjustable heating; an electric hot water tank which provides hot water; a washing machine and an iron and ironing board. Air conditioning is available in every room .. The hostess speaks English and French and will happily provide information on transportation and tourist attractions.
The Trastevere section with all its various restaurants, pubs and shops is a center of active Roman life - day & night - and is less than 400 mt (1/4 mile) from the apartment. The local train from the airport stops at the Trastevere Train Station which is just a 15 minute ride on Tram number 8 also near the apartment. The ancient Roman Basilica of Santa Cecilia with its famous statue of the Saint by Stefano Maderno and a 12th century fresco by Pietro Cavallini is an easy walk. The centrally located piazza of the Church of Santa Maria in Trastevere is a favorite meeting place for young Romans. Across the Garibaldi Bridge are many of the main historical attractions of Rome such as Piazza Navona, Campo de ’Fiori, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain and the Vatican all within an easy walk. Public transportation provides connection to all other sections of Rome

Excellent home in an outstanding location
A great property in an outstanding location. Our family of five stayed very comfortably. Very close to great restaurants and all the sites in Rome. Our host was easy to contact and any questions or needs were met very quickly . Check-in process in communication throughout was easy and straightforward. Don't look anyplace else, just book this apartment!

Great location!
We had a wonderful stay. The location was right in the middle of restaurants and shops and a short walk over the bridge in central Rome. The home was very comfortable. We got our exercise walking up and down the three flights of stairs but that is ok. The kitchen was small but suited our needs. The host’s daughter checked us in and was a delight. We would totally stay here again!

Cute apartment in great location
Cute, clean, well-stocked apartment in great neighborhood and location. Walking distance to almost everything. Easy check-in and great communication. The living area is cozy, especially if you have a fifth person sleeping there, but we didn't spend much time in the apartment so wasn't an issue. Metella is a great host.

Fantastic location!
This apartment is an excellent choice for anyone visiting the beautiful city of Rome! We were two couples so having the two bedrooms with full ensuites was perfect for us. The kitchen was fine for small breakfasts but we ate out at all the amazing restaurants in the very close proximity. The host was very accommodating and we appreciated her allowing us to enter the apartment a bit early. The second bedroom could use a new mattress but other than that, we were thrilled with our stay and hope to return again some day!

Sleeper location in great neighborhood
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Trastavere. Trastavere is conveniently located to all of the most popular sights, but is a great neighborhood with great restaurants on its own. Great for walking at night. The unit itself is very quiet. The air conditioning throughout the apartment is A+, even by American standards! Great communication with host and personal attention at check in. Thank you for a great stay!

Great apartment in a fun neighborhood
Metella is a great host. Stocks the apartment with essentials to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Wifi is strong throughout the property, which we found was not the case elsewhere in Italy. Highly recommended

Absolutely brilliant location for all the main sights of Rome
We booked this apartment mainly for its location - right across the Tiber from Circus Maximus, the Coliseum, the Forum & Palatine Hill. And maybe 2 miles from the Vatican. As an indication of how well located it is, we had 3 day Roma Passes that included all local transport and we used the bus exactly 3 times. And one of those was getting from the station (that's maybe 4 - 5 miles). Trastevere is somewhat "party central" with dozens of restaurants and bars (but only one gelateria that we found - Blue Ice, which had the best gelato of our trip. The apartment is comfortable , on the top floor of the building (no elevator) and, with the windows closed, it is quiet. It's not overly noisy with the windows open except when the restaurant up the road throws thir empty bottles out. The air conditioning is efficient and an absolute blessing in late June. The beds are comfortable and each bedroom has its own bathroom. There's plenty of room to move around in the bedrooms and lots of closet & drawer space. The kitchen is that double cupboard you see in the main photo - fine for putting toether breakfast and lunch but I wouldn't choose to cook a full meal there (nor did we want to with all those restaurants to choose from). Metella, our host, was hugely helpful during the booking and check-in - she answered all my emails promptly, was there to meet us even though we were later than expected and gave us a good run down on what was around locally. She was also there to make sure everything was OK at check out and to given us directions to the taxi stand. A couple of negatives - if you don't like stairs, there are 4 flights to contend with. There's nowhere to sit outside (that goes for a lot of apartments in Rome - doesn't seem a Roman thing to do) and the paintings on the wall may well scare kids. But all round I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Rome.

Fantastic find in vibrant neighborhood
Metella's apartment is very thoughtfully laid out and accomodated two couples very graciously. With two ensuites, we had plenty of privacy and the common room was both comfortable and inviting. It is very well appointed making excellent use of all available space. The attention to detail was outstanding and we lacked for nothing. Metella greeted us upon our arrival and was able to provide us with all the information we needed to enjoy our stay. The bed was comfortable and the linens high quality. We would definitely seek this place out if we ever find ourselves in Rome again.
