Nice quite little hotel

Pros: Quite, Clean, Good food, Friendly Staff
Cons: None come to mind
Location: See write up above.
Mecenate Palace is a nice quite little hotel within walking distance to most sites you will want to see in Rome. (15 min walk to Colosseum, 25 min walk to Trevi Fountains or the Pantheon) Although the rooms are very small they are very clean and staff maintains them well each day. The standard room will be too small for a family but for two people the small size is quite manageable. The included breakfast on the roof garden is wonderful consisting of scrambled eggs, sliced meats, pastries, fruit, quiche, and cappuccino. Also recommend the rooftop restaurant (Order the linguine with lobster you won't be disappointed). Suggest having the staff arrange to have a car pick you up and take you to the airport, well worth the 55 Euro each way (Just be aware when you check out that the bill for the car will be separate and they will want it in cash, which we were not prepared for). Highly recommend.

Our Roman holiday

Pros: Convenient, clean and efficient
Cons: Nothing
Location: Close to many attractions and the metro.
Had only 3 days to spend in Rome. The Mecenate Palace was the perfect place. Close to many sites and the metro, the hotel enabled us to maximize our time. The room was super (we didn't pay extra for a room with a view...and it didn't matter), the bar was convenient and quaint, and the restaurant terrace was spectacular...for dinner as well as breakfast. Wonderful stay! Book the Mercenate and you won't be sorry.

It's okay, but wouldn't stay again

Pros: The rooftop is nice and it's near the hotel.
Cons: This hotel needs to have rooms prepared 3-4 hours before the guest comes in. I've never seen anything like this before.
Location: Colessum is 10 minutes away by cab and the train station is a 10 minute walk.
I was disappointed with this hotel. It was over 200 dollars a night and it was overpriced for what I paid for. It's not a modern hotel and not like an American hotel. We came in at 8:00 AM and told us that our room wasn't available until 12:30PM. Any modern hotel gives you the next available room, but it's not like this at this hotel. In addition, the hotel cheated me out of 20 bucks The hotel bellboy told me that some of the snacks were complimentary, and we took them based on his word. Next thing I know it, I get a charge of 20 dollars. I asked them about this and they told me that I'm out of luck. The third thing is that we asked the hotel guy at the front if there was a pharmacy that was open 24 hours (my wife had a nasty cough), and he told us that try the train station (at 2:00 AM), and we took a cab ride to find out that the pharmacy wasn't open. The guy at the front wasn't knowledgeable about that, and gave us the wrong info. The next morning we walked a block and we found a 24 hour pharmacy. The rooms are air conditioned like crazy, which made my wife's cough much worse. Lastly, we stopped at this hotel twice and they wanted to take photo copies of our passports twice (they couldn't use the first copy we had on file). I still don't understand that. I'm surprised why this is averaging four stars. The price you pay is not the price you get in return for the services.

OK hotel in a good location

The Good: The hotel is close to a lot of monuments. There is a nearby subway station. The rooftop restaurant and bar are good and have a good view. Breakfast is free. The Bad: The mattresses are very firm and not very comfortable. The shower has a small glass wall instead of a curtain, so the bathroom floor floods every time you shower. We would lose all water pressure at some point every night for 30-60 minutes. There is no variety with the breakfast. It's exactly the same every morning.

Great Hotel, Great Location, Friendly...

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
What else can you ask for when traveling to a place you've never been to before? The hotel is walking distance from Termini station which is great for airport connections via trains (kids under 12 travel free), the metro is on the corner of the block and walking distance to the Colliseum and all other main attractions (besides the Vatican which is a bit further and requires a Metro unless you are ready to walk an hour). Breakfast on the roof was great, pleaesent and overall the staff were extremly friendly (only encountered the front desk and F&B staff). Would go back and recommend to a friend so here you go. If staying at the hotel you can try Tratori Cecio, which is 4 mionutes by foor, great dinner and staff their too were friendly and seved us with a smile. Enjoy!!!

Great location

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet
Cons: bar was very expensive
This hotel is close to the train and subway, so it was easy to get around. The room was very pleasant and had lots of closet space. The added attraction was the cathedral across the street and ringing of it's bells !

Mecenate, a great find !!

This hotel was all it was written up to be. Good location, clean and quiet, and a nice spacious room. Also enjoyed the church bells from the Cathedral across the street.

Mecenate Palace

This hotel has good points and not so good points. The GOOD: It's a great location with lots of little cafes and bistros right in the vicinity. Fairly safe neighborhood. It also has a grocery store very close by. You can walk to the colleseum in about 10 minutes. Everything else requires a * Euro cab ride, which isn't so bad. The air conditioning in the hotel is also very good. Views of Santa Maria Maggiore are stunning from the roof-top terrace. The Bad: The place could use some serious cosmetic changes. It's charming, but our room seriously needed a good coat of paint, new beds (The beds were awful!) and new curtains. It wasn't as clean as we would have liked it either... mold in the bathroom, and the bedspread was gross. The staff was kind and friendly, but a little lackadaisical by American hospitality standards. "Come back tomorrow" was a common phrase. The breakfast was good, but they are serious about closing down by 10:30 in the morning. So it stinks if you're a late riser! Over all my rating for this hotel is a six or a seven out of ten, with ten being the best. Hope this helps.

Great Hotel for A Woman Traveling Alone

My husband and I have often stayed at this hotel which is a very short walk from the train station but last week I stayed here by myself, having traveled by train from northern Italy with a flight out early morning the next day. The train that goes to the airport leaves from the first track you see when you enter the station from the side closest to the Mecenate Palace Hotel. Because the hotel has its own lovely roof top restaurant, it is safe and convenient for a woman traveling alone. Slightly more attention to the quality of the food in this restaurant would make it even better. I recommend the hotel highly.
