This was a completely falsely represented hotel. The staff was unresponsive, we were constantly disappointed by service. The room smelled of mildew - the room was poorly laid out / bathroom especially. The lock on the door was broken. They had cockroaches by the lunch buffet , the pool was not cleaned - none of the pools had chlorine . The train to take you around the prorate wasn’t working all the time and ran very infrequently. Awful.

We are very concerned to hear about your disappointment and the disconcerting experience that you faced. The guests' well-being and safety form a primordial part of the different guidelines established in our different processes in our hotel. In this sense, we need to mention that we have forwarded your observation to our F&B and Hygiene department, as we are extremely concerned about what has been described above. Furthermore, we can assure you that this happening is unusual for our resort, as we are periodically certified and evaluated by our hygiene department and Cristal America. Once more, we would like to express our most sincere apologies and underline that the occurrence is unusual for our property. Melia has protocols to guarantee our guest's satisfaction while on the property, nonetheless, we have addressed these matters with our Guest Service and Reception departments without being able to locate any dissatisfaction report on your behalf during your stay. As a service-oriented company, our main interest has always been to ensure our guest’s satisfaction while on the property, therefore, us is of utmost importance to receive information about any issue that may arise during our customer's stay, for this, we consider that if you would have shared these situations with our personnel, our co-workers would have properly handled these matters; regretfully due to this, we were unable to take timely and corrective measures, a situation that consequently leads to you departing our property with an unfavorable impression of our services and facilities. Most of the staff was accommodating. Not all the restaurants are open and finding food in the afternoon was difficult. Getting coffee at breakfast was hit or miss. They only had one gentleman who had coffee and he couldn’t keep up. We didn’t have hot water 3 of our 6 nights. And we never really had much time to relax on the beach because of the locals trying to sell stuff. Transportation between beach, restaurants, etc was very frustrating. Extremely long walks and most of the time their wasn’t a driver available. We had all of these issues and we paid to upgrade to Level. It was not worth it. We discussed our issues with front desk and were not offered anything except an apology. We were taken on our last day to waste 4 hours of being pressured to buy timeshares and were never given anything for our time even though we were promised a gift for our time.
