Great stay, comfortable

Service was great, Angel the young man that checked us in was friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Kitchen area was neat and clean. The only complaint we had was that it is very dark in the parking lot, the lights were not working. We have stayed here before and the lights still do not work, but overall the hotel is nice inside.

Historic hotel / All the modern conveniences

This is a fabulous play to stay. Located in downtown Portales, it is the remodeled Cal Boykin Hotel. They preserved the building's history while updating it with all the modern amenities of a Comfort Inn. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and the staff was very helpful.

Our room had cigarettes' smell in the room and bathroom. The heater shut off in the middle of the night, turned the room cold. There is no heat in the bathrooms, either. The TV lost signal and did not turn on after 10pm.

This hotel is noisy. The room doors are a real hazard for safety. The doors are sprung very heavy. Impossible to prop open for taking luggage into a room. The doors are dangerous and anyone with a walker, a cane, or has poor stability is in danger from foots slamming shut. The walls shake when doors slam shut. The hotel has big windows that rattle with loud traffic close to the hotel. The hotel charges Las Vegas prices for the rooms.
