🏘️ A look at the history of Porri
Perched at an altitude of 500 m on the side of the Casinca, Porri is one of the smallest villages in the region, with about fifty inhabitants. Its sober and mysterious beauty is linked to the ruins of Sajabicu (or Saghjapicu), the remains of an ancient medieval village located on the ridge, now accessible on foot.
According to oral tradition, Sajabicu is the ancient Porri, abandoned to get closer to the water and protect itself from Genoese or Moorish raids. This place, built between the twelfth and fourteenth centuries around a chapel dedicated to Saint-Jacques, was partially deserted in the seventeenth century when the population settled in the current streets of the village.
During the Second World War, Porri played a discreet but important role in the Resistance: the nearby cave housed a clandestine printing press distributing leaflets and liberation newspapers.
Today, the village lives to the rhythm of memory: its stones, its alleys and its vigils are a living tribute to the past, between invisible presence and depth of silencePGJyPgPGJyPg 🌌 A place to rest... and depositing
Here, every stone has a memory. Every tree greets you in silence.Whether this stay is for you a breath of rest, a space for reconnection, or a parenthesis of the essential. "He who listens to silence hears the invisible."
The Tower is a shelter, a threshold, an echo.
La Tour à Porri – A refuge between heaven and memory
Standing in the heart of the old village, the Tower has watched over the cobbled streets and chestnut covered hills for generations. Its stones, polished by time and wind, still bear the imprint of the voices and footsteps that have crossed it.
Inside, the freshness of the old walls and the softness of the light make up a timeless cocoon. Each window opens onto a living painting: the San Petrone that changes colour according to the hour, the slate roofs that set ablaze at sunset, and sometimes, the pure silence that reigns after the rain.
Here, you wake up to the sound of bells and the scent of warm bread, enjoy the evening by a fire or in the shade of a terrace, and you fall asleep with the feeling of being in your rightful place.
The Tower is not just a home: it is a stopover of beauty and truth, where you find the simple taste for life PGJyPgPGJyPg
