An absolute waterfront cottage in a quiet, peaceful location with wonderful sea views, make this the perfect ‘get away from it all’ accommodation. While you feel like you are a world away from anything in this serene location, you are only a 5-10 minute drive to the bustling town of Paihia with holiday activities, shops and restaurants.

The Property
Enter through the red door into this beautiful cottage which provides excellent accommodation for the short or long stay visitor wishing to explore the Bay of Islands and Far North region from a quiet relaxed base. The house sleeps a maximum of 4 people (Bedroom 1: King Bed with Deck Views, Bedroom 2: 2 x Single Beds).

This spotless, well-appointed home features a large kitchen and open plan living and dining which leads onto a large sunny sea facing deck. Watch the boats sail by night and day, relaxing on the deck or inside the living room on comfortable couches. Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner with a view and the addition of a Weber BBQ outdoors means you can enjoy the classic kiwi fare too.

The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need to self-cater. A full washing machine and dryer is available as well. All linen is provided for the bedrooms and bathroom.
The bathroom features a great shower with good water pressure and an internal heat pump/air conditioner keeps the temperature consistent all year round.

The Location
Island Time Cottage is located on the Opua waterfront in the Bay of Islands, The cottage is just a short walk to the wharf, general store (for food provisions), Fish and Chip shop, Opua Yacht Club, Marina, and the new Bay of Islands Swordfish Clubroom. The property is straight across the beachfront road where the start of the Opua/Paihia coastal walking track begins – an early morning ‘must do’ during your Bay of Islands holiday.

Just perfect! Fabulous apartment, with everything we needed. Wonderful views from the balcony, and it was fun watching the ferry move from bay to bay. Would definitely recommend. Worth noting, a steep drive and quite a few steps to reach those incredible views.

Such a lovely property. Extremely clean and well maintained, with everything you could possibly need. Also, so peaceful. Plus there is the perfect view over the bay. Its a short drive into Paihia and there is the lovely Opua to Paihia walking track too, which is well worth doing . So convenient for getting across to Russell, with the car ferry going from the wharf at the end of the road. There is also the convenience of a general store, takeaway and we also had food and drink at the friendly Opua Cruising Club which is open to non members. We just couldn't find fault with staying here.

Fabulous views. Very clean. Had everything we needed. Has had a makeover since photos were taken and is much nicer than in photos. Loved having the swimming at the end of the drive and being in such a quiet space. Watching the boats all day was so relaxing and fun. Would love to go back.

The cottage was spectacular!!

We don’t want to over recommend the property because we want to come back! It’s already difficult to get! We had a splendid time - visited Paihia, Kerikeri, Waitangi, Russell, Long Beach, boat tour of the Bay of Islands (out to the hole in the rock). Amazing! Wished we could stay longer. Excellent property, clean+ well equipped. Perfectly situated for bay of islands as we like to be just a little out of Paihia. Lovely shore walks+ swim spots. Stunning views. Have to access 2nd bedroom through bathroom. When we were there the dishwasher was not working + there were wasp nests under the adirondacks on the front deck. But this did not detract from a lovely couple of nights there

Lovely Property with Amazing Views

The property was great, Katrina has everything you need for a wonderful stay, very comfortable. The location is very handy in Opua to the car ferry to Russell, local boat club (nice meals), fish & chip shop & great local store (best coffees). Fishing off the wharf was great, a couple of nice snapper were caught. The view from the cottage is amazing & so lovely to sit on the deck any time of the day for a meal or a drink. We loved it.

A beautiful location!

This was a perfect location for our short stay in The Bay of Islands. The view from the house was spectacular and always something to watch as the boats and ferry went past. This property is soaked in sun most of the day and has incredible elevated views of the Opua Harbour. It is very modern inside with a large kitchen which is well supplied. The beds are really comfy in both rooms. The house is perfectly located for the Russell ferry, Marina, local supermarket/cafe with Allpress coffee and a fish and chip shop (all 3 mins walk) This home exceeded our expectations. We could easily park 2 cars in the driveway (which is steep) and there is more parking at the bottom if you're not comfortable with the driveway. Great stay - highly recommend.
