Stay here regularly and unfortunately last night the experience was less favourable. We were located in a room where the lights weren’t working and had to contact front desk to get that resolved. Then it was the temperature of the room. So warm! We had to contact the front desk to get a fan as it was so warm! Really unfortunate!

No sound proof rooms

The rooms are not sound proof. We had a poor stay due to hearing people in other rooms at all sorts of hours. We were also given a connecting room and the other room kept trying to open our door. The manager was eventually called up about this.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Booked to stay one night. Arrived at 1805 and checked in. At 1945 we received a message that there had been a medical emergency - we had to return home. We checked out at 2000 ... less than 2 hours after arriving. We did not consume anything; we made no mess and created no work for the hotel cleaners. We had pre-paid for two breakfasts, which we clearly would not consume. Despite our situation, the hotel enforced their rules and would not entertain any kind of refund. I fully understand their rules; however, some flexibility and common sense ought to prevail when events overtake the best made plans. We won't go anywhere near this hotel again - we expect better customer service than this.

This was our first time staying at the Clayton and sadly will be our last. The hotel overall is lovely as you would expect, but the room wasn't what we expected. We stayed in an executive room (which we do at many other hotels) there was very little in the way of executive perks. The room was standard and a little dusty in places. The toilet wasn't very clean and there was hair on the floor which was very unwelcoming. The kettle had seen better days and the room refreshment choices were poor. No robes, wash cloths and the toilet paper was very thin (I will leave the rest to your imagination) We had recieved an email about having a late checkout for £10 and another email saying £20!? We had clicked to checkout at 1pm which we were told via email was accepted. Only to then speak to reception who informed me "late checkout cannot be done in advance but in the morning of checking out" If that's the case why send an email? I ended up paying £30 for a 2pm checkout, again this is something I've never had to do at other hotels that offer executive rooms and services. We had house keeping knocking our door on 2 occasions to ask if we were leaving so they can come clean. There was very limited room service options and there was no option for in-room breakfast, which would have been lovely. We opted for the breakfast option with our 3 night stay and even though it wasn't the worst, it definitely wasnt the best! I wouldnt recommend the cooked breakfast

The hotel is very nice, very clean, staff were helpful, not having parking is very inconvenient, having to drop everything and then drive to a carpark and then walk back? If you have kids its not ideal. Other then that would recommend If you’re not driving this hotel is great!

modern hotel, swift check-in. Room is very comfortable and clean location is great for city centre with a little bit of a walk. Unfortunately there is a lot of construction around so it does not look the most picturesque! A shame there is no on-site parking, although the B4 Parking is fairly close by. Would stay again.

Good stay

A good stay in a family room to attend theatre last night. Good breakfast. Reasonable bar prices given it’s a hotel. Polite staff. Lots of building work outside hotel, due to tram/ train terminal development, you can’t hear it.

Room with a view of HS2 (construction site)

We had an overnight stay as going to a concert. Although there is construction work going on outside ,the hotel itself is maintained to a high standard. The room itself was soundproofed, and clean with fantastic panoramic views . Minor complaints are the reception staff are difficult to hear as they're trying to speak through massive monitor screens so maybe some sort of microphone system...Also as well as being shown to our table for breakfast a little bit of explanation of what is where would be useful...But over all lovely hotel and thank you to the staff
