Pros: Excellent location. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Cons: Lack of amenities - need to request for toiletries, no body lotion in room but available for purchase. Minimalist room - only one small table in the superior twin room, no refrigerator. First requested kettle was broken, no room to put the tray with kettle and mugs but on a chair. Nowhere to plug in the electric kettle but at the bathroom sink.

The staff was absolutely outstanding and directed us anywhere we wanted to go. This hotel is right in the old town city center and walking distance to just about everything. The modern museum around the corner has a talking robot.

Perfect and lovely stuff! Overall we had a wonderful experience at Karl August. Location, breakfast also great. Only maybe the service at dinner could be better. We didn’t have much vegetarian options.

Very impressed with this place. It really felt like a 5 star hotel. Staff was friendly and very helpful/knowledgeable about local activities and restaurants. The cafe downstairs has great coffee and pastries. The spa area is to die for.

Amazing hotel! Excellent location and the staff were so nice and couldn’t do enough for you. The restaurant is also amazing overlooking the river. Will be back for the Christmas markets.

If you like the room cool in the non-winter months, skip this hotel. The A/C would not go lower than 22.5 degrees even though you can set it at 19...which it never cooled to that temp, even after 2 days with the curtains and drapes shut. There is no phone in the room, you have to communicate via Whatsapp which can take some time. There towels are sparse and thin, and no washcloths. BYO toiletries as there are none if you forgot anything. Also there are no additional locks on the room doors and the access to the stairwells are wide open so literally anyone can walk to any floor. Also the team at the restaurant is quite rude.
