We stayed at this hotel several years ago and decided to return.Unfortunately, the experience this time was awful. The rooms are dated and with inadequate lighting. Breakfast was sub standard, buffet food more akin to a Little Chef. Cold, tasteless, terrible service, dirty uncleared tables, lack of plates and cutlery. Mugs on the tables, no side plates, tiny paper napkins.Dinner was ok, but yet again slow and inattentive service. Staff mostly students, poorly trained, reception was terrible due to rude argumentative and offhand attitude. We felt unwelcome and would not recommend or return again.

Weekend away

Lovely hotel, great facilities & friendly staff. The room was clean & comfortable. The pool & spa were great, easy to use. Breakfast was tasty ( go about 10 and the rush was gone) went for a walk in the woods - lovely location a d used the golf bar too (showing the football)

Gave a lower score for service because we had to wait over an hour for food and when it finally arrived, as it had been sitting under a heat lamp the pastry was rock hard and very difficult to cut into. The delay was blamed on a wedding taking place, sorry, thats not my problem, any possible delays to food should be communicated, so customers can choose to go elsewhere.

Our 3rd time staying at Dunston Hall and it was amazing as always! This time we brought our dog for the first time. We weren’t advised about £25 charge for pets until check out. More than happy to pay but informing us upon check in would have been better service. Other than that small issue, we had a lovely stay and will definitely be back.

Extremely overpriced for the condition of the hotel and facilities. The bed was very uncomfortable, there were two in our room and both mattresses need replacing, they were very hard and you could feel the springs. The rooms were not very soundproof so you could hear anyone walking past in the corridor, walking in the room above yours, opening doors etc. There was no hairdryer in the room which is very poor for such an expensive hotel, I was unable to wash my hair ahead of a wedding. The rooms need some refurbishment, there were paint and grout issues and the curtain pelmet was half falling off. The breakfast was nice but the service was poor. The grounds and hotel building are nice but overall I wouldn’t stay again given the poor facilities for the price of the hotel.

Nice hotel, helpful staff...good base for touring

We stayed for two nights in August B&B as part of a mini break to the East of England. All staff were welcoming and helpful. The room had a king size bed and the bathroom was large and adequately supplied. Breakfast was a good choice of pastries and hot buffet...dining at 8.15am meant we had no problem with queues or choice of food. The only thing that could have been better was the lack of air conditioning, as our room was very warm on both nights of our stay although a fan was provided upon request.

I wish we could have stayed for longer!

We really enjoyed our trip to Dunston Hall and our only regret is that we couldn't stay for longer! We were really impressed with the size of the swimming pool and the fact that there was a separate section for lane swimming. The breakfast was really nice, with a great choice and it was lovely to have a big bed to sleep in!

Lovely hotel. Room was clean and staff were friendly. But the door by the lift, located just outside our room, was extremely squeaky. Not sure who was walking around at 3 a.m., but the noise kept me up all night. Unfortunately, I couldn’t sleep well because of it. Hopefully it'll be fixed!!

Broken shower head support, which resulted in the shower head falling and landing on my foot whilst taking a shower. Very fortunately only slightly grazed a couple of my toes as I moved them out of the way very quickly but could also have very easily broken them. Reported it to Reception who apologised and reported it to their maintenance team, but no gesture of any goodwill or follow up from Management to make sure everything was OK which is very poor. Obviously it could have been much much worse!!
