Decent but expensive, as is all of Goreme

A perfectly fine hotel. Very nice staff. A great spot for breakfast and a nice adjacent terrace to watch the balloons. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was spacious and large and clean. This is an expensive tourist town so the hotel was expensive as well.

The accommodations were kind of basic, but acceptable. The rooms were not serviced during our 3-night stay. The provided breakfast was also pretty basic. Nothing special. Based on this, I would rate the lodging accommodation here as a 3; however, this hotel also promoted itself as a local travel agent. Taking advantage of this we booked a balloon flight through the hotel. Our lodging reservation was booked through Travelocity and paid for via credit card 4 months in advance. For the balloon flight, I also paid in advance, but since they would not accept credit cards, I had to go through the hassle of executing an international bank wire transfer for the payment. My main reason for the overall lower rating is because, upfront we clearly stated and it was agreed to that our balloon trip would have a maximum of 16 passengers. All seemed good at our pickup as the two of us were in a bus with 14 others. However, just before arriving at the launch point, just the 2 of us were transferred to another bus with 18 other people and so we ended up in a balloon with 20 passengers. Upon return to the hotel, we complained and requested a partial refund as we did not get the balloon flight size that was agreed to and pad for. The hotel representative, said he would check with the balloon company to see if anything could be done, but was unable to get any refund. Basically, for the balloon flight, we got a bait and switch.

Pleasant hotel

The rooms were clean and the facilities were working, host extremely helpful, especially in regards to local activities and tours. The hotel is close to the sunrise and sunset viewpoint. The breakfast was very good, it was served per person and with a very good variety. On the terrace between 19:30 and 22:30 the tea and coffee were free. There were some issues with the internet deeper in the room since if the stone but it had to be expected. The only personal complaint was the placement of hotel near the road, it smelled heavily of ignition fumes.

Great location. Really liked the staff. The only problem (and I've encountered this across Turkey) is they don't use sheets that actually fit the bed, so the sides and head can't be tucked in. This means that if you roll over at all while sleeping, the bottom sheet ends up in a ball and you wake up sleeping on the mattress pad.

Ozbek Stone House

We stayed at the Ozbek Stone house for 2 nights and we loved it! The place was clean and staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast spread was also very good and well presented. We couldnt go for our balloon flight one morning due to bad weather and Secil the manager, tried to organize it for the following day and tried to fit in our transfers as well which was very kind of her. I would definitely return.
