I have stayed in this area dozens of times with dozens of hosts. This was by far our worst experience. The house smelled really musty and one of the bedroom doors wouldn’t open. Luckily it was a a jack and Jill set up but still not what you expect for the price. The check in and check out procedures are not listed on VRBO. The check in and check out as offsite miles away in Nelsonville. We came down to visit family and turkey hunt with my children the opposite direction. Once I learned about the checkout procedures I called to ask if we could leave at 5 am but return the key in Nelsonville that afternoon when we leave the area. I was told no and that if I did not have the key back by 10 I would have to pay a significant late fee per person per hour. I explained that it was not explained when I booked through VRBO and had it been I would not have booked with them and to comply would ruin the reason we came which was to turkey hunt with my boys both morning. I asked if they could make an exception because of this and was told no, I asked to talk to a manager and was told they were not available but could call me the next day but would explain the same thing. Needless to say I checked out a day early to avoid the issue the next morning. I would not recommend this location or host to others, there are many options in the area that are much better and accommodating, particularly when the issue is their own.
