Our first disappointment was that even after calling Atlantis 3 times on the phone to confirm that our rooms were connecting, they didn't honor this upon arrival. They told us it wasn't possible. Then why did their employees confirm it? They did nothing to address this mistake in any way, so our kids were down the hall (not ideal!) They promised a follow up phone call the next day, but never followed up. It took an hour to get our bags delivered to our room. I had to roam around and hunt them down because no one knew where they were. We requested late check out. They promised they would call us to the day before. They never called. This is not 5 star service and I am surprised they have this designation after staying here. It isn't worth the $$$.
There is a lot of wear and tear on this hotel. If you are used to traveling to 5 star hotels, this one will be a disappointment. Many of the 5 star amenities aren't even technically at the Cove, they are at the other parts of Atlantis. Some other cons...rickety ironing board with a huge brown stain, no mini bar/snacks in the room, service at restaurant for breakfast is slow, allow at least 30 minutes in the evening on the shuttles to get to dinner if traveling to another part of Atlantis, no Smart TV's, finicky toilet, some electrical and wifi issues, no necessities store at the Cove.
Pros: nice employees (except for upper mgmt in our case), no issue finding chairs at beach or pool, beautiful beach, not too crowded. Food was ok
