Very lovely hotel within 100 meters of the Caldera view. I stayed in Santorini about 10 years ago at a Caldera view hotel and I pad several hundred euros extra per night. Staying at Loizos you don't have the direct view but you are only 100 meters from it so save yourself some major cash to use on other things. The staff are extremely pleasant. From the drive that picks you up, to the front desk staff, to the breakfast lady, to the room cleaners.....they all understand the meaning of "customer service" and they are all very nice. The location is the best in my opinion. Close to caldera view, 5 minute walk to the local buses, and an easy stroll into any where you want to go in the little town of Fira. The rooms are very nicely updated. I stayed in the Honeymoon suite which (to my surprise) looked exactly like the pictures. The Honeymoon suite also had a pretty large balcony with obstructed views of the caldera side of the water. Don't expect a great water view. Some of the other rooms have views of the other side of the water which are not that obstructed. I can't comment on the other rooms however I just wouldn't stay in the rooms by the pool. They are literally right in front of the pool, without a balcony.....just a place to sit. The breakfast is really good for 10 euros....however be aware that they serve the SAME THING EVERYDAY! This is my only negative about the hotel. Otherwise it's fantastic and I would only stay here again if I come back to Santorini.
Unbelievable sunsets and location
Dana villas location was outstanding! We watched the sunsets every evening from our terrace. It is located outside of Fira so it had a much more relaxing feel. The staff was very accommadating. The breakfast was delivered to our room so we could sit and dine while looking out at the beautiful sea.
a terrible let-down
We booked what we thought would be a top-of-the-line holiday and paid a significant amount of money for a package that had us staying at premium "4 or 5 star" hotels. This hotel is a run-down place that would hardly merit 1 star. A barking Rottweiler was tied to the fence out behind our "terrace", broken and rusted fixtures in the room, missing a drawer in the cupboard, a fluorescent light fixture had no cover, etc.;, a broken fridge that idled loudly, crappy amenities, the products like shampoo and bathroom slippers were pitiful & mismatched and looked as if they'd been purchased from a flood sale or end-of-lot warehouse sale, a funky odor throughout.... the list is too long to summarize. Add to this, the fact that you are nowhere near the Santorini you have seen in pictures; the cities of Thira & Imerovigli are at least a 15 minute cab or hotel shuttle bus ride away - and the shuttle doesn't run past 8pm. and that you are directly across the road from the airport so regularly hear planes taking off and landing; and that the hotel offers only a buffet dinner for 25 Euros and not really Greek food in a tent style room with plastic windows/sides that you might expect to see hastily erected on someone's property for a wedding; and the fact that the black lava rock beach is not well maintained, full of garbage and painful on your feet. and you get a sense of why we were disappointed. Not the 5-star accomodation it's supposed to be, that's for sure. Don't be fooled by the hotel's website ... this place is a DUMP!
