Nice hotel, and close to the beach.

Its a smaller hotel but in a great location. the food was good, the beach was great. On the other hand parking is a pain and an added cost which they hit you with before check in and the walls must be made of paper. I barely slept because of the noise in the halls and neighboring rooms. Even after a room change which cost a fortune the result was the same.

Maui vacation

We had a wonderful stay at Royal Lahaina Resort. We didn’t pay the extra for an ocean front room, but had an ocean view instead. We still had an excellent view and watched whales from our balcony. The service was very good and the restaurant is excellent.

Pros: décor, staff were mostly outstanding, nice beach area, quiet away from city noise. Great little store with surprising selection.
Cons: Air conditioning was borderline inadequate. Needs a decent chair in the room.
Location: The resort is removed from the bustle of Lahaina, which is great in my opinion. Nice pools, golf, great beach. Not much in the way of restaurants.
Very nice hotel. Pretty, well-maintained, great staff. That said, I dinged them a little on room comfort because there was no decent chair to sit in. You're in Hawaii, so you don't spend a lot of time in your room, but it would still be nice. Also, the hotel sits up on a rise, which is great unless you have arthritis in your knees as I do. Another caution: the curbs are foolishly painted dark brown and there is limited lighting on the grounds - easy to trip or step off a curb.

Nice Resort close to the Beach

Pros: Property is it very relaxing
Cons: They shouldn't charge for parking for the guests, and if they do should not be like $15 per day for outside parking. Guests already paid for the hotel
Location: Luau, Swiming
It is a wonderful Resort with great staff. Relaxing and comfortable.

A Pleasant Surprise!

Pros: The staff were very warm and helpful and made your stay very enjoyable. The restaurant was also a nice surprise for breakfast!
Cons: The rooms are nice, but the kitchen/bathroom setup is quite odd.
Location: A short 15-20 minute walk to Whaler's Village and the "touristy" side of Kaanapali.
We only booked the hotel for two nights, but were pleasantly surprised by how warm, helpful and welcoming the staff were at every contact point we had with them. It reminded us of how hotels in Hawaii were 20 years ago. They definitely had the Aloha spirit! We would definitely consider staying here again next time we are back in Maui. The only con we had was the room itself. The room was very comfortable (the bed was cozy), clean and even had a nice semi-ocean view, but instead of a full bathroom, the shower and toilet were in a single room, while the kitchen counter and sink (with bar stools) also served as the bathroom/make-up area of the room (instead of a dedicated bathroom/mirror/sink area). A "bath-enette" or "kitch-bath?" It was odd. I'm not sure what in the world the interior designers were thinking. Regardless, we truly enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer!

We wanted to like this hotel but disappointed

Pros: beautiful beach, old Maui charm decor
Cons: nicer staff, working A/C
I reserved a room for 2 adults and 2 children. Upon checking in, the clerk was adamant I only reserved for 2 people. When I showed her our printed itinerary, she never apologized for being mistaken. She did find a room to accommodate 4 people, and we loved the ocean front view. We, however, did not love it when the A/C was out for 2 nights. It was 85+ degrees, very humid and very uncomfortable. There was no overall communication from the hotel staff when the A/C would again be working and little apology for the inconvenience. When we checked out, the clerk reluctantly took $50 off our bill, and only at our insistence. Proceed with caution before staying here!

Great cottage, rude staff

We stayed in one of the cottages instead of the hotel, which was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend. However, the staff of this hotel are so RUDE! The only nice person working at the front desk is named John. Hopefully he takes care of you because everyone else seems to hate their job. The cottage was great. We had our own, very private, lanai just steps from the golf course and a short walk to the pool and beach. The beach/cabana staff are great. They are friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this hotel and especially staying in a cottage. Just try your best to avoid the staff at the front desk, guest relations, and excursion kiosk. All are very RUDE!

Wedding in Lahaina

Shower drained very slow and every morning I stood in a pool of water. The toilet also was constantly running and making noise so I had to shut it off. The hotel needs better maintenance personnel.

A wonderful time in Hawaii

Pros: Location, view, beach, staff
Cons: Put hotel information packets in the room. We actually had to ask the clerk when checkout time was because it was not listed in room.
Location: Right on a beautiful beach with views of Lanai and Molokai. Difficult to make a northbound turn onto the nearby highway out of the resort area.
We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Lahaina. It has a beautiful beach and we were able to see whales hourly from our balcony. The room we were in was scheduled for a remodel and there were some minor maintenance issues, but the location was excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was great.
